The Tip Of The Iceberg

Much of what we know so far is just the surface from the core knowledge. Pioneers in all areas have just cemented the way for others to continue exploring and finding the unknown. They have striven for a common goal. And that is a shared communication among people, where there's no boarder or any dull inconvenience that could jeopardize progress.

Through history this has been a challenge not because it is far from our reach, rather because our way of thinking and proceeding stop us from realizing that cooperation as a unit means constant advance.

In addition to that, the recurrent action to rely on the already known premises drops us in the hole of conformism which doesn't let us see further from what it is in front.

This is something that brilliant people consider when they propose something. They never state static truths. They encourage people to use what they have discovered, and implement it to create something else better. It's like the stream of a river, which never stops.

Knowledge is the same. We never stop learning. There is always something that is awaiting to be discovered. So, I'd like to point out some elements that everyone need to start applying.

Original idea

Sometimes, it is difficult to find an original idea in the field we are. And we end up doing what is already known. Even though there might be situations that require improvement, most people do the usual.

And I'm not implying that it is not a good idea to continue doing what's working. I'm talking about not getting stuck. There's always room for improvement, which desperately calls for fresh inputs from different angles.

The status quo is the enemy of progress. It can feel nice and secure. However, it just freezes us our thoughts and ideas, sending us into state of stagnation.

Whoever did the discovery doesn't matter

We should care less about who place the "the wisdom stone". Even though we have to honor the person, I always think that it doesn't matter who propose the good idea, what matter is the idea itself.

This is the thinking of the majority of people who have contributed enormously to enrich our minds. There's no selfishness, only the desire to inspire other to look for more.

A good teacher has to reflect this behavior to his or her students, always motivating so that the pupils never cease in their quest for more knowledge... with the final hope that the they can become a better version of their teacher.

Paving the way or embracing the new

In each period, we move following certain paradigms that have been consolidated by others. And we do it because we firmly think that such a way is the most appropriate path. But what we must understand is that we're only reinforcing. And that's good if we're chasing progress.

Nevertheless, from time to time someone appears, proposing different things, and even proclaiming a change of course. And we have to decide if we keep on paving the path, or the "new thing" is worth going after.

Anyway, there's one thing for sure. And that is that, as I stated in the title, what we know is just the tip of the iceberg. And we can confirm it whenever someone comes up with a new discovery about something that we didn't conceive it ever existed.
