My first attempt at SteemItBoard's WEEKLY AUTHOR award

in steemitboard •  6 years ago  (edited)

I received my first six SteemItBoard awards some 11 days after my account was created on the Steem blockchain. This was the first I had heard of SteemItBoard awards, and I was intrigued by the concept at the time, but it wasn't a major focus of my efforts here since then. Surprisingly, I tend to be a bit of a completionist when it comes to in-game achievements, and I have spent many hours chasing elusive awards in some of the videogames I play. Finally, at 54 days since my account creation on the Steem blockchain, and 43 days since I first heard of them, I think I am now ready to start actively pursuing some of these SteemItBoard awards.

As with in-game achievements, my understanding is that these awards don't mean anything other than as a way to view my own progress on the Steem blockchain, and maybe even to compare my own progress to that of others. Below is a screenshot of the SteemItBoard awards that I have received so far, up to today...

I have just been awarded the DAILY AUTHOR award for writing four posts in one day. I achieved this with the help of @thedegensloth's Zappl and Chibera projects, as I was posting furiously yesterday on Zappl about the preview video of the new Steem-enhanced Chibera MMORPG game which is being developed by TheDegenSloth, amongst others. Gaining these SteemItBoard awards is easy when you're not thinking about them! 😄

My target now is to gain the WEEKLY AUTHOR award, which requires me to write at least one post on every day of a single week, being a Monday to a Sunday. This seems like it is not going to be as easy as it sounds. The instructions for it say...

🙚 𝑰𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒑𝒐𝒔𝒕 𝒐𝒏 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒅𝒂𝒚, 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒎𝒊𝒔𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒘𝒆𝒆𝒌𝒍𝒚 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒘𝒂𝒊𝒕 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒆𝒙𝒕 𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒆𝒕𝒓𝒚 𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅. 🙘

I may end up having to try this a few times, to get it right, particularly as my timezone is UTC+12, so I may be off a bit with my timings. Fortunately, I use SteemPeak as my primary blogging interface for the Steem blockchain, and it includes features such as post drafts and post scheduling. I've used the draft feature of SteemPeak already, and have several posts saved in draft form, but not yet completed. I've never used the scheduling feature before, so this sounds like a great opportunity to do so.

Each of the posts I'm creating which will be part of my attempt to unlock the WEEKLY AUTHOR award next week will contain the tag #steem-progress as one of its tags. It will also include the animated gif banner here in the footer of the post, with a link back to this post. I'll also add links to each of the seven individual daily posts, one for each day, as replies to this post, to provide bi-directional links and keep this project together. I have found that the implementation of tags on the Steem blockchain is not yet up to the task, otherwise I would just create a custom tag for this, such as #trisquelwhare-steemitboard or something. Also, the arbitrary use of tags is frowned upon on Steem, so I dare not just tag them all with #steemitboard, even though I have tagged this one as such, being that it is most relevant to SteemItBoard.

congratulation friend, i have been getting all of this award but dont know what to do with it

DAY 1: Here is my first post in the series. In this one I discuss how I deal with imperfection in myself, as an Aspie, by delving into numbers and facts.

DAY 2: Here is my second post in the series. This is my semi-regular progress report, but it now looks much better than the previous ones did, as I now use some third-party tools to generate charts and graphs.

DAY 3: Here is my third post in the series. This one is about Steempunk.net, the Steem-powered and steam-powered RPG. I haven't started playing it yet, but I'm looking into it as being yet another fun way to earn some crypto.

DAY 4: Here is my fourth post in the series. This one asks the question, “where is my head at”? It delves more into my inherent philomathy (as mentioned in my original #introduceyourself post), and provides a potential solution for my future here on the Steem blockchain, leveraging my philomath nature.

Day 5: Here is my fifth post in the series. This one is an update to my earlier post about the same offer, where I'm giving away SteemMonster Common cards to new Steemians who are of equal or less Steem Age and Reputation to me, in an effort to encourage more new players to join the game, and to #payitforward for those who have generously contributed to my own SteemMonster collection.

Day 6: Here is my sixth post in the series. In this post I list out all those who I have started giving auto-upvotes to using SteemAuto. I'm doing this because I want to acknowledge these people who have helped me establish myself on the Steem blockchain, but I can't yet afford to delegate anything.

Day 7: Here is my seventh (and final) post in the series. This one is only brief, but it is basically a summary of what I have learned so far about #steempunknet in the last few days. I look forward to seeing that @steemitboard award soon! 😉
