Getting marks for their project.

Luan and Jared were so excited; they went with Luan’s mother in her car back home waiting for the men to get there.

They all had dinner together and it was so much fun. 

The boys lay the table and Jared’s father was so surprised that he knew how. 

Luan showed me as it is his job to do this before they eat and clean up afterwards, then his mother switches on the dishwasher. 

It seems we will have to stop eating in front of the television and do the same that will give us some time talk about our days, as I will now be home every night.

Jared said I can hardly believe it, it will be so much fun dad and yes I will lay the table, but we will have to learn to make our own food and not order from somewhere else. 

Luan’s mother said, she will teach them some of the easier things she makes and in time they can learn more. That sounds perfect, Jared’s father said but we do not want to be a nuisance as we have been alone for a long time and we know how much you love your family life. 

Do not be silly, we are here on earth to help one another, and I think these two kids might just become very good friends. 

Jared also had a bicycle and now they can go to school all in a group as they picked up everyone along the way to school.

Luan’s friends said we never realised that Jared was so nice he was always so quiet and he never mixed with anyone. Luan said he had his reasons, but I think this has now changed and he is part of us now.

When they got to school, they could not wait for the period where they would find out what marks they got for their project, but had some other subjects first.

At break time they all sat together and ate their sandwiches before the break was over and then it was time to go to the class where they had done the project. 

They walked in and saw all the projects there and could hardly wait their turn, as they were holding thumbs that they did well. At last it was their turn and the teacher said this was a very nice project, as this must have been a wonderful holiday. 

Luan said yes it was and he really learnt so many things while on this holiday. She told Jared, that he had a lovely handwriting, and he should help Luan a bit, as he really did not write that nice. 

They all laughed and she said, I gave you two 96% for your project. I can see you did it all yourselves and it is very nice. 

They were so happy, and thanked her. She said to Luan one day when we have time, you must tell the class about the aquarium with the Sunfish and all about the ostriches. 

Everyone looked at him and he said, it was such great fun and he would love telling them about it as soon as the teacher says. By then it was nearly the end of the period, and they were so ecstatic about their 96% they could hardly wait to tell Luan’s parents and Jared’s father. 

They all went home on their bicycles and Jared went a little further to the new house. He loved his room and was so thankful for everything that Luan and his parents had done for them. 

He phoned his father and told him how well they did and said can we not invite them for a braai tonight as I know Luan’s mother has not started making dinner. 

That is such a good idea my dear son and it is a way to thank them for everything. I will phone her now and tell her.

That night they all had the most wonderful braai as that was something that Jared’s father was good at and he had bought some salad and bread rolls from the shop.

They still had a lot of homework and they went to the study to finish it.

 Children who do their homework and listen to their parents will always turn out happy and wonderful children.
