As I have no shame in admitting that I am obsessed with cheese, I can officially say that I am a cheese addict, I LOVE CHEESE! I could have cheese all day, everyday and not get tired of eating it. I want cheese in almost everything I eat. I can't even imagine life without it! Cheese is put into food and in Colombia it is also put into hot chocolate.

I have a lifelong undying love for cheese.

So thank God I don't like very far from a cheese farm. The cheese farm is about 5 minutes from where I7 stay and OH MY GOSH, the cheese from there is just so incredible!

They had all different kinds of cheese but the one that stood out to me was the basil pesto gouda cheese, not only was it very creamy, it was filled with so much flavour. Although my favourite cheese is mozzarella, this basil pesto cheese is just to die for!

What exactly is cheese?

There are so many cheeses all around the world but which are the most expensive?

  • Pule takes the spot for the most expensive cheese ever! This cheese is even made with donkey milk instead of the usual types of milk used to make cheese.
  •  Rogue River Blue, made with cow's milk.
  • Lord of the Hundreds, made using sheep's milk.
  • Winnimere, made using cow's milk.
  • Old Ford, made using goat's milk.
  • White Stilton, made using cow's milk.
  • Extra Old Bitto, made with goat's milk.
  • Horse Cheese - Caciocavallo Podolico, is made cow's milk. But not just any cow, a rare breed of cow called podolica.
  • Jersey Blue, made with cow's milk.
  • Gorau Glas, made with cow's milk.
  • Cacio Bufala, made with buffalo's milk!
  • Beaufort D'Ete, made with cow's milk.

A few cheese facts:

  • Cheese is said to be the most stolen food in the world!
  • There is a cheese with maggots in it called Casu marzu.

  • France takes the spot for consuming the most cheese in the world.
  • Cheddar cheese's colour isn't naturally orange, and actually, people in the 17th century started dying cheese orange to trick people into thinking that it was higher quality.
  • In America. there's a day specially for cheese called National Cheese Day!
  • The one cheese that is known to cause odd vivid dreams is Stilton blue cheese!

Oh how your post resonates with me! I would eat a selection of cheese every day. I researched cheeses from every corner of the globe.
But then disaster struck, I went for a cholesterol test.....the result was through the roof! Yes, I had also consumed other foods that no doubt contributed to the high count. But when I totally cut out cheese for a couple of months the result was significantly lower.
I maybe eat cheese probably once a month now...to completely cut it from my life would be torture. Oh, it is so difficult to walk past the cheese selection now.
This wouldn't apply to everyone, I guess I am just unlucky in that it seems to be an inherited condition. So I can only dream of cheese and weep. 😥

Oh gosh no! Life without cheese!!?? I'm so sorry that you are not able to enjoy it as much as you'd like to.

@bluepanda, shortly before I read your post, my husband and I decided that today we will not have, like, a meal. We will have cheese and biscuits to snack on through the day. Our local shops do not really offer a wide selection, but it will do, thank you. As long as we have cheese. Shaun is out there shopping at the moment, and I am sure he will come home with a delicious selection. Oh, yes, cheese. Cheese and coffee are right up there among my favourites. I enjoyed your well researched article.

Cheese is one of the most delicious creations out there! I hope you enjoyed your cheese and biscuits!

Oh, we did, thanks!
