Life on earth is not all about human existence . We should live in harmony with the nature and there must be proper balance . We get to see the sun rise, sun set, the cooling winds, wonderful rainfall, dense forests,Vast oceans etc under cover of Blue sky.
Let us take earthday as golden opportunity to educate ourselves and also make some practicable and harmonous efforts to save our host earth.
What is Earth Day?
Earth Day is an annual event, celebrated on April 22, on which day events worldwide are held to demonstrate support for environmental protection
Why was it created?
It was a massive oil spill in Santa Barbara, Calif. in 1969 that put the creation of Earth Day in motion in an effort to raise political and public awareness of the need for environmental conservation. .
Who started it?
Earth Day was created by Sen. Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin after learning about the devastating effects of that Santa Barbara oil spill, according to Earth Day Network's website.
What can you do to celebrate Earth day In your School?
The Earth Day celebration offers opportunities to both teach about the issue and make a tangible environmental impact. ‘Together we can make everyday Earth Day and each one of us in the school can make a difference’.
Spread the awareness about the requirement of trees for our survival. about climate change, earth and its biotic and abiotic components and their use and abuse.
Spread awareness about role of man in preventing and destroying our host earth and its environment and its impact on our lives.
Boost your School’s Recycling Program
Encourage use of bio-degradable products in day to day life. Minimise use of plastics and polyethene.
Organise intraschool and interschool seminars, debates, group discussions, quizes followed by prize distribution to encourage students.
Assist students in planting at least one tree per student around your school, house or in your colony.
Direct students not to throw the seeds after eating fruits. Wash them and keep it in a plastic pouch in your bag. Whenever you go out and find baren land while travelling, on a highway throw these seeds. They will germinate easily the coming monsoon. If with this act we can contribute even a single tree each to our world, our mission is successful.
Organize a school yard or community clean-up day. Take time to pick up the trash around your school grounds or the neighborhood around your school. Recycle items that can be recycled.
Upload pictures of your staff/students on social networking sites. It takes minimal effort and will show your support for the day and encourage friends and followers to do the same.
