Night-night, don't let the bed bugs bite...
Is your baby, toddler or teen getting enough sleep? And what is ENOUGH sleep anyway?
The right or wrong amount of sleep can change your child's diet, concentration and their moods drastically and it's very important to maintain a healthy and stable sleep pattern to increase the health and repair of your child's body.
Dreaming is also a key part of learning as well as feeling fresh and ready to keep the learning cycle going on the next day!
'What is the right amount of sleep for my child?'
There are also a few ways that you can ensure your child gets enough sleep by changing little things in their routine:
- Let your toddler take a nap or short naps through the day to ensure that they go to bed early and get their 13 hours of sleep in. Break the naps down according to your child's age, it might help you clean the house or just relax in that time. Parents also need fresh minds and enough rest!
- Stick to your night time routine when it's bedtime. It's very important to have the same routine so that your child knows after his/her bath or whatever your rule is, it's bedtime.
- Make sure to wind them down by reading a bedtime story or dim the lights and sit with them for a while.
- Be sure to keep the room cool, relaxed and free from all TV, computer or cellphone screens to distract them from their main purpose. Sleep.
- Don't let your children sleep more than 2 hours past their normal get up time over the weekends, this will also help to keep the weekly routine in check.
- If your child struggles heavily with sleepwalking, insomnia or nightmares, it will be best to take them to the pediatrician or your house doctor to test them for any sleep disorders and get it treated as soon as possible.
Remember, a healthy sleep pattern will ensure a happy and healthy child!

That is very helpful post for a kids. I have a kids he did not sleep in a all day. He sleeps at the 11.30 pm at night and I force wake up at 9 a.m. He does not want to wake up. I think his sleeping time is not enough.

Thanks for the read. How old is your child? He could be getting too much sleep as well.

He is 4.5 years old. He never sleep day time. Only 9 hours he sleep at night. Is that enough for him?

Oh sleep, how I wish I was able to get my 7 hours a night. You are so right about children requiring the right amount of sleep. As a parent to children who have sever sleep issues I can attest to the fact that their health and well-being are deeply affected by lack of sleep.
Thanks for sharing.

You're so right - getting adequate, quality sleep is crucial for kids' growth and wellbeing. When my daughter was going through a phase of fighting bedtime and frequent night wakings, I was at my wit's end. Out of desperation, I started playing a 10 hour video I found on YouTube of peaceful, ambient waterfall sounds. It worked like a charm! The steady, soothing water sounds relaxed her into a tranquil sleep within minutes every night. Within a few days of turning on the waterfall sounds at bedtime, she was sleeping soundly through the night in her crib. I can't recommend that video enough for helping weary parents lull restless little ones to sleep. Here's the link:
