We all know at times learning, developing and education can get tedious.

Why do I need to know this? English literature will not help me in my career choice one day? I will do it later.
These are some common questions and statements made by all children sometime in their life. For parents, and teachers, this is very challenging to always try and keep that learning flame going.

Here are some tips on how to make learning fun again in the first part of my post.

Technology

If this is at your disposal, make use of technology at least once or twice a week. Or even everyday, if its stimulating and educational. Let the children do extra research on a topic you are discussing in class, but let them use a computer or tablet to do so. Try to download a song, which is applicable to the lesson plans according to your child's age. Incorporate technology into your reward system as well by allowing them to play games or watch videos of their choice. There are many different ways you can use technology as a tool to make learning fun again. We live in a technological era, embrace it!

Activities

When you are busy with your lesson plans, try and incorporate an activity into it. When kids see pictures with different colours or get to build something and feel with their hands, they tend to respond better to learning. They will also see it as fun and will remember the lesson better. Any activity, whether it is building, colouring, singing a song, physical activity or playing a game. Utilise the space in your classroom to your advantage for this. Should you struggle to think creatively about how to incorporate activities into your lessons, think back to what you would have enjoyed as a child. Or talk to your students about it, ask their input. This will make them feel part of something. Ask them to write down suggestions on any of these topics and see what they have in mind. You might be surprised with the feedback you get.
