Construction of the speech: The Introduction should be gripping and should immediately hold the audience's attention.
- This may be achieved by using a quotation, an anecdote, a rhetorical question or a contentious statement.

This term paper is concerning Construction Grammar and the way it attempts to handle parts of speech categories like nouns, verbs and adjectives. The seminar, this paper was written for proved in a manifold of ways that when we restrict ourselves to the categories provided by traditional grammar, we may face serious difficulties which call into question the fundamental categorizations of such grammar. These problems, or potential problems, are the subject matter of the first part of this paper.

The body of the speech should develop logically.
- Facts, opinions, quotations and, if relevant, a short personal incident or anecdote will add to the content of the speech. (A personal story, however, should not be the basis of your speech)
- Remember never to humiliate or insult your audience.
- Use humour, where appropriate, but avoid adding it merely for the sake of being funny.
The conclusion should linger and provide the listeners with food for thought.
- Restate your position and summarise the main points of the speech. (Try to end on a positive note.)
Practising your Speech
A well-delivered speech needs to be practised.
Remember to greet your audience!!!
- A mirror provides a useful audience and allows you to see yourself as others see you.
- by listening to yourself on tape, you will be aware of your pace, pitch, emphasis** and voice modulation.
A competent speech takes time and thought. It is not created instantly but grows and develops.
