ADDING MIXED NUMBERS.

Today we are doing mixed numbers and it is important to remember that when we see a number with like 2½ it does mean they have to be added together.

We can write it like 2+½ = but we do not as it is taught that it means a plus.

We have to look out to see if there are whole numbers we have to add first, but all this is explained in the video very nicely.

When we have fractions with the same denominator they can be added easily.

We call them like fractions.

We can rearrange the whole sum so that we can add them easily, and remember to make sure they are like fractions when they appear.

When we add fractions we must make sure that we add them just like normal, when we have a whole fraction it becomes a whole number. The rest is just the fraction parts.

When we get to unlike fractions we have to change them into a common denominator to be able to add them.

This is also very well explained in the video so if you do not understand just go back to the video and see how to find a common denominator.

I really hope this helped a little bit and please go through them at least three times as there is a lot to learn here..

I wish you a lovely day from me here at the Wild Coast.
