It's time to do @steemiteducation's Steemhomework once again! ^^ It's funny how eager I am to participate in doing Steemhomework, but keeps on procrastinating on my papers due next week. I'll definitely work on it soon. (PS: I work better under pressure, so cramming suits me more. Please don't follow me for we have our own learning style. ^^)

Moving on to this week's homework...

QUESTION:

Many kids are no longer interested in sport. They don't want to participate because they have become lazy and just want to sit in front of the television or play video games. How do you get kids to participate in sport?

ANSWER:

I personally believe that playing a certain sport isn't compulsory, but voluntary. It depends on each individual, so if you want kids to participate in sports, you'd need to get them interested in it first.

As mentioned in the question:

They don't want to participate because they have become lazy and just want to sit in front of the television or play video games.

If they're into watching TV, why not get their attention by showing them some movies or cartoons/anime related to sports? In my case, I really like sports anime. You learn not only the sport, but also the value of friendship and sportsmanship. Aside from that, they also heighten one's excitement especially during the competition. This will get the kids interested in the sport.

On the other hand, if the kids are into video games, it would be nice to introduce them to some games related to sports. Once they show interest in any sport, then, there will be the "eagerness" to try it out in person.

After getting the kids' interest in any sport, then you have to show your constant support. Showing them your support will keep them motivated, thus, continuously engage themselves in such activity. Alongside the excitement and fun of playing a certain sport, we have to encourage the kids and teach them different values, for example: friendship, sportsmanship, honesty and fairness.

Other things that we have to let the kids remember are the following:

  • "Playing a sport is fun!"

We don't have to pressure them once they are in a competition. Let's allow them to enjoy every second of it!

  • "It's alright to make mistakes."

Being too strict and perfectionist would make them lose all interest. They'd think that playing a sport is such a burden.

  • "Always give it your best shot!"

Encourage them, so they won't regret anything. It's alright to fail or lose for as long as they take these failures as experiences to do better.

Yes... Getting them interested in participating in any sport is not the only important thing, but also keeping them motivated to continue. It won't be easy, so my dear teachers or parents, give it your best shot as well!

Thanks a lot for dropping by!

What can I do if I can't make my kids sit in front of TV??? My older daughter plays basketball and she is in drama club and improv team and so busy with friends and I'm going (@~@) 😆

Hahaha... It's the opposite, sis... You can't let them just stay put.. hihihi ^^ Well, the final decision is still yours... but your kids are having fun doing the things that they truly like. :) So it's a great thing to support them and guide them, too. It's great that aside from the things that they do outside your house, you also spend time doing something together like "drawing". :) Getting into their world is an awesome action for parents to do. Good luck, sis! ;)

Oh then she's my type! She is a rare kind of girl. I'd love to meet her!

She is about your age. She @justaboutart is not so active here but loves anime and draw as well.

Hmm. Seems so. I didn't see her posts on past weeks.

That's a good strategy @tegoshei. I'll try to get my siblings more engaged on sports than gadgets and i'll start with that. :)

Hihihi... Thank you @mixaccount!!! Good luck with that~! (^^,)/

My students love Yuri on Ice!

Wow... SOunds interesting. :) Yuri On Ice is also so exciting to watch. Their performances are awesome! <3

I like your post, if there is time to visit my account, because I am still a beginner.

Thank you~!!! I'll drop by in a bit. Welcome to Steemit, by the way. ^^

Sports are fun! I love them more than my studies. I can't believe why some kids don't like to play.
Nicely written nee-chan!

Hahahaha... And I think our little sister loves studying more than sports... am I right? hihi Thanks imouto-chan!

Not quite, I think she needs to read your post^^
You're welcome.
