My Steemit journey started last year in July and lay dormant until september, but I have learned a lot in the few months that I have been active. When used in the right way, Steemit can yield rewards beyond your wildest imagination.
Rewards
1. Inspiration
There is an endless supply of reading material to inspire you in any topic, whether it be education, life, fantasy or bitcoin… Steemit has it all.
2. Community
Fellow steemians are very supportive - especially to newbies. If you need any advice, it won’t be hard to find an experienced steemian, on one of the many dedicated Discord channels, to help you.
3. Education
A lot of Steemians write educational pieces on many different topics - a lot of the articles coming from professionals in their own respective fields. You can learn about anything on here. Just think of a topic and search for it. You will not be disappointed.
4. Earn money
There is great money earning potential with Steemit if you keep at it. Don’t expect to get large payouts right from the word go. I had a bit of help in spreading the word. The trick is to have a dolphin on your side, or better yet, a whale. One upvote or resteem from a whale and your post could be sitting on the trending list. If whales are just not biting, just continue. Something will happen eventually.
Since starting Steemit, I have created a list of articles, websites and fellow steemians who inspire, educate and consult. I refer to my list everytime I write a post. This list really helps me when I am at a loss, too.
My list of really helpful Steemit articles:
- Adding some fun and emotions to your articles:This article by @blueorgy has a list of all the awesome emojis (and their codes) that you will ever need to give your article a little touch of your own personality.https://steemit.com/emojis/@blueorgy/steemit-emojis-master-list
- YouTube Videos, Yo:It is very easy to add YouTube videos to your article. You can see for yourself in this article by @pfunk: https://steemit.com/videos/@pfunk/youtube-videos-now-auto-embed
- Formatting your article:To give yourself a bit of a creative and professional edge, you can format your articles with HTML. From working in the industry that I do, I have learned some basic HTML already, but when I forget how to do something I just look it up on W3Schools, here: https://www.w3schools.com/html/ (Although, with the latest update to Steemit, I have noticed that the editor makes it a lot easier to format your articles without HTML. BUT, I would always suggest learning a bit - just to say you have.)
- This awesome article by @jznsamuel has a great list of all the fun contest there are to enter on Steemit. Entering contests are a great way to get into the swing of things and to get your stuff out there: https://steemit.com/steem-help/@jznsamuel/list-of-all-contests-giveaways-participate-to-win-free-steem-sbd
- Overall Tips for Newbies:This article by @karenmckersie is recent, but oh so relative to newbies on Steemit. Check it out: https://steemit.com/steemit/@karenmckersie/wow-3500-steemit-followers-thank-you-5-helpful-tips-to-newbies
Now that I have shared my awesome list of helpful articles I would like to show you my list of really cool Steemians who have helped inspire, consult and teach me.
My list of kick-ass Steemians:
- First and foremost: @sweetpea introduced me to Steemit and the power that be. She has also gone out of her way to teach me the ways and get me involved and in the right circles. A lot of our days start off with a Steemit chat. Oh, did I mention we are work colleagues by day and fellow Steemians by night.
- One of the contests that got me going on Steemit is the POPcontest hosted by @karenmckersie. She has inspired hundreds of Steemians to spread the positivity all around Steemit. I have entered the contest a couple of times - and even won once! Check out @karenmckersie for the latest #popcontest post.
- There is some exceptional talent being discovered by @curie, if you would like a little bit more inspiration, or some motivation.
- If you are looking for some inspiration or just some good old interesting reading, I suggest following the #culturevulture tag and challenge run by @eroche. You will never be disappointed with the articles.
- Education is a huge part of Steemit - you can find information about almost anything here. A tag that has really stood out for me is #steemiteducation run by @steemiteducation / @giantbear. I enjoy posting something educational. Especially if it is something that I need to do further research on.
- If you want to learn all about Steemit, @jerrybanfield has all of the answers right in his blog - along with some funny articles too. His comments sections are always lit up too.
