A Heart of a Servant

For me, the definition of the word "servant" is not weak and unable. But a person who has love and willing to serve others without expecting in returns.

When I was young, I don't want to be a servant, because I thought they are the one who clean the palace of the king and queen and even in the house of the rich people. That was my thinking before about servant.

When I was in fourth year highschool, My mom told me to take BACHELOR OF SECONDARY EDUCATION. I replied " OH!!! HELL NO!!!" I don't want. I dont want to waste my time with the noisy students, and besides this is not my first option. Before, I want to be a successful businessman. I want to have my own office, with my own table.lol and own computer. I want to stand in front of many investors and present my own presentation. I want to have my own people.

Until one night, I saw a grade 5 pupil in our Street. He was beside the gatter and reading a book. I asked him, why he is there. He replied " Because there is a light here, and I have a quiz tommorow. I want to get a high score. I replied, "you don't have light in your house?" , he said "Yes, we don't have. We only use candle to provide a light.

When I got in my house, I told my mom what I saw in the street. And I told her that I changed my mind. Now, I want to take Education. At first, I dont know If I will be good in teaching career and mold a students because in the first place this is not my first option. "BAHALA NA, PERO GUSTO KONG SUBUKAN"

And thats it. I took BACHELOR OF SECONDARY EDUCATION MAJOR IN MATHEMATICS. I took Math because this is my favorite subject. It was hard for me that time to take Education, but there is something that whisper in my ears and in my heart to pursue this course.

Until I finished it. I graduated. But for me , I was in a confusion if I will pursuing it. I had a deal with God that time, If I pass the board exam I pursue the teaching career but If I fail, I will apply to the company that inclined in business.

I took the LICENSURE EXAM FOR TEACHERS last September 29, 2013 and to be honest, that was the hardest exam I've ever encountered. The questions were out of the world, especially in my major (Math).

Surprisingly, one of my classmates called me and told me that I passed the LICENSURE EXAM.

After that, I applied in Public school and currently teaching in BERNALDO N CALARA INTEGRATED NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL.

I said before I want to be a businessman.( Teaching Career is also a business, your students are your clients. They have to learn something from you) ,

as I said before, I want to have my own office and table with computer. (Yes, in teaching career, we have faculty room, a table with full of notebooks and books and laptop that use in computing grades. Lol)

Hahaha.. It's funny but wierd. All my wishes before happened now. But in Teaching career.

I understand now what's the true meaning of "servant". Yes, I am a servant. I am here to serve my students to give them a better education that they need for a better future.

I am here to be part of their success in future. I am wilking to share my knowledge not only in academics but also in sports and arts.

I am happy to see my students successful and I am happy to serve th and coach them without expexting in returns.

I also introduced steemit in my class and in other student. I extremely happy that steemit is an avenue to share thier talents and thoughts. They used steemit as a platform of education. Indeed, steemit really helps a lot not only in financial but also in their study.

As I said befor in my blog ,Everybody can be a king and a warrior, because anybody can serve! You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject your verb agree to serve. You don't have to know the formula of Pythagorean Theorem in Mathematics to serve. You only need a full heart and and genuine passion to serve.

I thank God for giving me an opportunity to help others through my career. We, teachers are here to give a best education to our students. We are here to serve them without expecting anything but study harder.

Just like JESUS CHRIST, He served as a servant to his people because of His great love for us. And I want to be a servant of God also.

Always remember this, according to John Hugee, "the measure of a man's greatness is not the number of servants he has, but the number of people he serves".
