Steemitmamas Day 27 Write Along Challenge : Write a book, movie, or product review

in steemitmamas •  6 years ago

Although upvotes are low and everyone is busy harping about HF2.0, it really doesn't stop me from writing or posting. So, I decided to work on my overdue submission of write along challenge.

We have a list of basic guidelines given to us:

i) Make sure we know what you are reviewing! Check your spelling, links, and any specifics regarding what you are reviewing. We want to take your opinion seriously and won't be able to if you spell the Main Character's name wrong.
ii) Be specific and be honest. If you are reviewing a movie and didn't like it, tell us specifically what you didn't like. "There was something off about it" won't cut it for a review. Was the movie too long? Were the characters hard to relate to? If you liked it, what specifically did you like? Did it keep you laughing? Were the characters lovable and good role models?
iii) Talk about a range of elements. If you are reviewing a restaurant, let us know about the food, but also: were the bathrooms clean? How was the lighting? Was the staff friendly? Did you feel welcome?
iv) Keep if friendly or at least civil. Assume that the people who you are reviewing will be reading your work. It is ok if you did not like something, it is not ok to insult or degrade. It is ok to give opinions it is not ok to give insults.

This was harder than I thought. Not that I couldn’t write a review. More like I couldn’t find anything worthy to write a review on.

Book ?

Takes too long to read one, plus if I had to write a review on it, it’ll probably be by year end before I send in my post.

Product ?

Errrr… I don’t think so either. I’m quite a loyal consumer so this wouldn’t work for me either.

Movie ?

Maybe this would work for me. I watched at least 3 full movies and 2 TV series before I actually decided which I would select to write a review on.
So, after much debate, I decided on :

10,000 BC

Before I start on my review, allow me to share a short intro about this movie…
Not sure if any of you have watched this. It was created in 2008, yeah… a whole 10 years ago & only now I watched it on Netflix. The whole set of the story was based on the prehistoric era, about the journeys of the prehistroric tribe of mammoth hunters.

A love story between 2 people (D’Leh & Evolet) in the Yagahl tribe. This tribe lived in the remote mountain range in the Urals and survive by hunting giant mammoths. One day, hunters from another land came & burned down the Yagahl village & captured all the young including Evolet. The story tells of the journey which D’Leh and his faithful uncle & brother endured in search of his people & Evolet.

So, how do I rate this movie

I admit that I find the story inspiring & visionary.

i) Leadership skills
The character, D’Leh shows great leadership & visionary skills when he gathers the many tribes in the icy cold mountain lands to the dry dessert. Bringing them to the land of the kidnappers to save the many slaves and fight for their freedom.

ii) Love
Love in this aspect is not only limited to a man & women but to family members, to the tribe, to freedom. There is one part of the script that keeps coming back to me.

A good man draws a circle around himself & cares for those within: his women, his children
Other man draws a larger circle and brings with them, their brothers and sisters
Some men have a great destiny. They must draw around themselves a circle that includes many, many more.

iii) CGI & Cinematography
With directors such as Roland Emmerich, the sound effects and emotions captured is unbelievable. Scenes of the great white mountains to the dry hot dessert to the huge wildlife shows the great creativity of both the directors & producers of the movie.

iv) Storyline
A well written script except for the ending. There was so much effort put in at the beginning of the movie to hype it up however, when it came to the end of destroying the enemy, it happened just too fast. It was a bit anti-climaxed for me. Would have preferred a more dramatic end to the story.

All in all, it was a good & entertaining movie to watch. Wouldn’t mind catching it again.
Check it out and hopefully, you will enjoy it as much as I did.
