"Benham Rise is China's" says China Admiral - EdCart

"China owns the Benham Rise as part of the Second Island Chain" says the China Admiral Liu Huaqing. China wants to finish the First and Second Island Chain as said in an article in Want China Times. But what is First and Second Island Chain exactly?

According to Wikipedia, this is a strategy of the American foreign policy commentator John Foster Dulles in 1951 during the Korean War. It suggests surrounding the Soviet Union and China by sea. It didn't work out to the Americans but seems to be an effective strategy to Chinese. It is broke down to three chains: First, Second, and Third Island Chain. I won't be discussing things about the Third Island Chain because it is not in scope with the topic.

First Island Chain

This chain begins at the Kuril Islands, and finishes towards Borneo and the northern portion of the Philippines.

Second Island Chain

It is located at the middle portion of the pacific ocean as the second strategic defense against United States which sideswiping in passing the Benham Rise. This is the reason why the Chinese take the Benham rise.

For me, as a Filipino, I cannot agree with the Chinese. They are not being fair. They are just sanctioning their greed to get raw materials. But having this military state: lack of weapons and army men, we can't do anything but to obey them to avoid misunderstanding or, in the worst part, war. Let's just pray and trust God.
