My husband was craving burger the other day, but unfortunately, I didn't pay enough attention and he ended up going to McDonald's to satisfy his burger cravings. That day, he consumed two burgers. Although I did not say anything, deep down I felt bad that he had to consume unhealthy fast-food.
I wanted to make up for it. Also, I recently purchased this burger making tool set that I absolutely adore. So, I was looking forward to doing some burger-making from scratch this weekend. It is also for this reason, I decided to use ground beef as the main ingredient for all my sandwiches this week.
Seriously, I wanted to impress my husband (to discourage him from consuming fast food), so I was in need of coming up with something unique and healthy. Going through my fridge and pantry, I still have some leftover Tortillas from last week’s SSC. My thinking was, perhaps, I could make a quesadilla-style burger with tons of fresh veggies!
To make this dish successful, the burger is the key. It has to be juicy, tender and healthy. So, I added lots of finely minced onion and garlic to make the patties moist (I made them tiny so that someone won't even see them, hehe). Also, I did not over-mix the beef mixture in an attempt to keep them tender.
Below is the steps to make this sandwich:
For the burger - I mixed the ground beef with finely granted onion and garlic, cumin, salt and chipotle chili powder.
For the sandwich - I used flour tortillas, shredded Mexicana cheese mix, corn, tomato, green pepper, vocado.
For the mayo - I mixed mayo with chipotle chili powder.
Here is a GIF slideshow to illustrate how I put this baby together:
True-fully speaking, I wasn't sure how it would turn out and whether my husband would like it. Luckily, he finished the whole thing in only a couple minutes. He said this is one messy and tasty burger, and wanted another one.
I love picking a cuisine and making a sandwich of it! This looks wonderful, glad he enjoyed it!
