Like little diamonds, we hide in the dark, waiting for the light to reveal our magnificent beauty
Beauty that is revealed only after we've been roughened up, battered and beaten till we shine and glow
Glowing like the rainbow at the end of a dark, scary storm
Storms, the heart and soul of our existence
The many facets of a diamond like the moods of a storm
Calm and quiet one second
Raging and tumultuous the next
Next by the old dusty table is a fallen pot;
Who begged for mercy but the violent and destructive storm refused to listen to her humble plea
Pleas that fell on deaf ears
The fittest survive out here
The strong take and the weak crumble
Falling and smashing into smithereens
Dreams dashed against the cold hard earth
Earth's inhabitants tremble and quiver,
As the storm, like a coup d'etat,
Has overthrown the once peaceful atmosphere that reigned supreme
And has martyred its generals,
Injecting us with a poisonous venom: fear.
Fear of the unknown, fear of the undecided
Shall we conquer this deluge
Or will it drag us under
Burying us in a watery grave
Not unlike those who long ago
Decided to brave the elements
To find new life elsewhere?
Elsewhere where the sun touches the sea,
We know we will shine for every living creature to see.
But now we lay low waiting for our Messiah to swallow up the storm,
Then as the light shies the darkness away.
Our deserved name will be restored back to us ; glittering diamonds.

wow @theverve, there is so much suffering in this poem, so much pain and injustice, this storm that some of us our forced to go through but in the end make us stronger because we survived, but what a journey to have to undertake. Really powerfully and wonderfully written, this is excellent, well done x
