Many quickly growing economies, mainly in South-east Asia, are referred to as "tiger economies" for this reason. The typical Asian tigers are Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Asian tigers with rapidly expanding economies are those that transitioned from largely rural cultures to industrialised powers in the 1960s. Not only do all the countries have strong trade and financial systems, but their economies are also frequently expanding due to exports. For example, Singapore and Hong Kong are home to two of the world's largest financial markets.
