Flakes and Whites (A Poem About Winter)

in steemitwcp •  7 years ago  (edited)

@rensoul17 is currently hosting a Winter Collective Play Challenge and called for entries. I had written mine but was too late to submit because the contest was already over. However, she requested that I still post it, so here goes nothing

Flakes and Whites

Green grasses wither, ruddy flowers fade.
Here comes winter, Every man to his shade!

Falling from the sky, white flakes float
From up on high, like a sailing boat
Meandering streams they ply, in a white coat

Caught by every tree, Every blade of grass
Everywhere you see, each corner you pass

Upon every home and town, Cold and icy it may fall
Many a snow flakes now, heaping ice so tall

Bringing joy to the young, sadness to to old
Old faces turn long, bantered by the cold
Of spring's flowers that sprung, the memories they hold

Causing pain and blues; some flakes may fall.
Or being put to use, forming white snowballs

Snow can be happy, or sad and sly Laughing hysterically, or screaming a battle cry
Snow can be angry, causing men to die

Winter heralds a season of love, and of divine remembrance
Trying to be thankful enough , for the birth of he who brought deliverance

Gifts everywhere we share, or Santa's coming here and there
Gay carols filling the air , spreading the Christmas cheer
As each polar bear, hiberantes with not a day to spare

It's a beautiful poem @ajremy. I am sure many will agree with me. Also I am a woman not a "he". Its kind of hard to tell from the picture.

I'm so sorry.... I've edited it now... Thanks
