For this week, my roommate chose....
Allspice, wormwood, dried blood, synthetic sand, glass chips and some orange glitter.
And, I have to admit for the first time since this project started he truly had me stumped. In all previous rounds I've been able to look at the ingredients and have something come to mind almost instantly, as ingredients have several uses and when most fit into a particular category I can mold the outliers into what I need.
But this week....Oh man, I was utterly lost for a while. It took me time to come up with something, and with as busy as yesterday was this is why this one came in so late. But, eventually, I came up with something.
A spell jar to help dampen the summer heat. It's been exceptionally hot here and is only supposed to get hotter, and our apartment hasn't had properly working air conditioning since early May while the front office simply tells us they are 'working on it' every time we ask even though it's been over two months and this heat wave isn't going to let up any time soon.
Sand - at the very bottom of this jar, just as it would be at the bottom of any large body of water like the Great Lakes of my home or the ocean I so long for to bring in their cooling vibes.
Dried Blood - it's actually stuff used for gardening, a summer hobby I normally enjoy but have found difficult due to the heat. Because of the connection between the two I added my wish for this to bring more stable and much cooler temperatures so I can get back to something I love.
Wormwood - A powerful banishing herb, with the intention here to banish the summer heat.
Allspice - An herb known for bringing in uplifting energies, which I need right now because the heat has me so low on spoons it's insane.
Glitter - Orange like the flames of the sun, meant here to represent being sealed away with things meant to dampen them so they aren't so terrible.
Sealed in blue wax as a cooling color, with a blue gem on top for the same.
Honestly, I was taking pictures of the jar and it started raining. Even though we weren't expected to get more than a light drizzle it started pouring, and the temperature went from still almost 90 to down to 70 instead. I'm hoping it'll stay that way, but we'll see >.>
