Hello and good day everyone. I hope you’re all doing well today and that you have a beautiful and nice weather where you are.

Anyways, here is my entry for the SteemKitchen contest #:4 –Cheap and Cheerful.

So, today, I wanted to share with you another longtime favorite kind of dessert. This dessert is a light version of the “Egg custard or Leche Flan, which I posted a month or so ago. And it is also very simple and easy to make and it’s simply delicious in its own right.

The ingredients to this recipe are those that you’ll easily find in your fridge and pantry. This dessert is very much affordable in one’s budget; only four ingredients to complete the delicious dessert. I would say this dessert would cost approximately about $1.75. How cheap and cheerful is that? Here’s how you can make it:

Baked Egg Custard

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Baking time: 40 minutes
Serving: 6

Ingredients:
4 large eggs
2 ½ cups milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
¼ tsp. salt
Ground nutmeg or cinnamon

Steps and Procedures:

Preheat your oven to 325F degrees.

Using a medium size bowl beat the eggs lightly.

Add and stir in the milk, sugar, vanilla, and salt. Keep stirring until the sugar is dissolved and everything is well combined.

Put 6 cups that can contain 6 oz. of liquid each into a deep baking pan.

Then transfer the liquid to a bigger measuring cup or use big ladle to:

Pour the custard liquid mixture into the cups.

Then pour boiling water into the baking pan about an inch deep.

Bake in the oven for 40 minutes or until a butter knife inserted comes out clean.

Remove from the oven. Sprinkle with nutmeg or cinnamon, if desired. (I prefer the nutmeg over cinnamon, though.)

Put in the fridge to chill for about half an hour or more before serving. It can be served right from the cup, if you want.

Or using a small spatula or butter knife, unmold and/or invert the egg custard into a serving dish.

There you have it, a delicious baked egg custard dessert. I love this dessert simply because its deliciousness in taste, especially the smell of the nutmeg in it is just amazingly sweet in aroma. Plus it has a very fine or smooth texture and a decadent creamy taste to it.

Thanks for stopping by, reading and viewing these step by step procedures. I hope you will try making this in your kitchen at home and share with your family and friends.
