DOES YOUR CHILD KNOW WHAT THEY WANT TO STUDY?

I was sitting on my front deck, after church watching the boats going by.

They come very near to the side as it is deep water before it reaches the coast. I was thinking of a friend of mine who has a grandson who really cannot decide what to study, and this morning sitting there watching the boats, I phoned her and said let us find him a job on a boat so he can see the world.

 Maybe in this time he can decide what he really wanted to do. If your children do not know what to do, send them to do an "au pair" job in a different country and they also might just find out what they really want to do.

It is better for a child to do something first if they are not sure what they want to study, for that reason instead of wasting money let them do something else first, and then let them realise that working without any qualification will keep them back in life. 

They may just find out what they want to do. By making new friends and meeting different people the world might open to them and they will really do what they want for the rest of their lives.

They may also learn the value of money as they are all on their own and have to look after themselves. If they can learn this they will have really leart a lot in life.

We are always in such a hurry to send out children to study, and after a year they realise it is not something they want to do.

This does mean they have lost a year where they could have earned their pocket money and also learn how to really work. 

It is just some children who know exactly what they want to do, and that is a different story.

So we must stop looking at things as if it must happen, and sometimes use new ideas. 

This might just make the children we have a lot happier and as I said they find out what work really is like without wasting a year.
