Steem Monsters Deck Idea - Water Hammer

When reading this, consider this @steemmonsters team at max level.

Here's a look at my deck idea for a Water Deck with a 20-mana cap game. It utilizes all 20 mana, and maximizes the ability advantages of using the Water summoner, Alric.

Pros:

  1. High Magic - High hit rate, limited defense countermeasures.
  2. Focused Firepower - All cards are able to attack the front monster on their turn and in any position. This also helps Frost Giant's trample.
  3. Good Front Defense - Frost Giant is arguably the best front defender in the game thus far, while slowing the enemy down.
  4. High Hit Points - All the monsters have an above average amount of hit points.
  5. Additional Abilities - Mermaid has dodge which could provide a good second line of defense to give more time for Medusa's backup damage stun capability. This keeps the attack on while giving the potential for limited recourse by the opponent.
  6. High Stun Rate - Two monsters with the ability to stun can help to immobilize the enemy from striking on round 2.
  7. Alric's ability - As the only two magic users for Water thus far, this deck maximizes the +1 magic ability of Alric which will make short work of any opposing team that is too spread out on monsters with low hit points.

Cons:

  1. Susceptible to Void & Magic Reflect - Anti-magic properties will make short work of this deck.
  2. Susceptible to Fear - Losing the front position advantage for Frost Giant will cut a monster's attack turn and leave the magic user's exposed.
  3. Potential Speed Trap - While Frost Giant can slow down the opposing team, its own 1 Speed will limit its capabilities for landing its own hits and being hit.

Conclusion:

This team idea is useful against an enemy filled with many low hit point monsters and a vulnerability to magic. Fear may potentially wreak havoc on it however, so opposing Death teams may prove to be challenging. The most optimal use of this team would be if you anticipate challenging someone with a strong front-end defense given its heavy focus on pounding the opponent head-on. Best used against slower decks.

It's a nice idea but as you said this deck could suffer against creatures with magic reflect, and we have some of this, in white (silvershield paladin), blue (frozen soldier) and black (haunted spirit).

Black could be particulary annoying for this and fear. I will love to start testing some nice ideas like this one.
