Splinterlands: Grinding for SPS

I knew that once the SPS AirDrop was over, I would quickly miss the daily stream of sweet SPS! However, I thought I would have had enough for all my Splinterlands ecosystem needs. I have never been so wrong! I now find myself far away from my long term goal in my wallet and barely enough for the needs of all the upcoming releases across the economy. This has led me to take a step back and consider all the options to get more SPS during the continued drops as laid out in the Whitepaper.

In addition to exploring all options from a financial perspective, I have also put my gameplay into high gear to try to take advantage of the new reward system in place. However, even that is not really enough considering the hundreds of thousands SPS I recently spent on Node Licenses and Riftwatcher Packs! Therefore, I have now found myself getting more involved into the tournaments in the ecosystem. This has truly changed so much since the days of Beta and Alpha tourneys for HIVE and/or DEC.

I feel that the updates have done a good job in segregating the community more among the Divisions at play. However, that has also meant that the tournaments are very competitive. These have been the most competitive battles I have ever seen in my history of participation. I still recall when having a maxed deck would garner a big advantage to the top spots in tournaments but that is no longer the case. There have been many tournaments that I have missed out on getting into the second round which never was the case before.

My goal of accumulating SPS via tournaments has been rocky to say the least but at least I am getting a good enough results to breakeven in the worst cases. It has been frustrating at times as I often feel that I get into the Top 16 or 32 with very good payouts but by the time the top players finish, they push me back down. However, I am still getting multiples of what I put in so it continues to accumulate to the benefit of my SPS bag over time. Now, I have to just hope I stop spending my SPS on new and shiny things the developers put in front of me!
