Look at it this way -- there's a good chance that'll be the worst thing that happens all year, and it's only Jan 2nd.

You're on Easy Street now!

Hahahaaha, that's definitely exactly it! Smooth sailing all the way through 2018!

Hmmmm... you may be on to something here. We can hope right?

I have had more than enough flood stories being in the real estate business. The other day we had a small hose freeze in one of my flips after the furnace stopped working. It caused a minor flood in the kitchen but luckily it was caught before it got too bad. Hopefully your drywall is not too wet and doesn't get moldy. They have dehumidifiers that can help.

Yeah.... there is a nice watermark on the ceiling of the garage at this point. I think I will probably get out a ladder and cut out the affected section of drywall over the weekend in order to be on the safe side. Once it is out I can decide if I want to patch or not patch, since most garages around here are wood and joist without drywall anyway, I might just leave it open for the time being.... There is no humidity in the air with it being so cold here anyway, so I think a dehumidifier would be wasted. LOL

Yeah, if it is cold you should be fine. You can cut a nice square hole and pretend it is access to the attic.

Damn. That's a bummer.

You deserve a cookie.

At least I'd want one after all that.

Did the little huy feel guilty about the whole thing?

nah. I think it was a use issue and that particular load was just the final piece of the hose working it's way loose inside. It is a 12 year old washer, so we were probably due.

Have an upvote as that sounds like a pretty terrible night. I would have gone to bed and call the plumber in the morning. Haha not really, but would have been pretty frustrated for sure.

When I thought it was fixed and we filled it back up only to have it dump again... yeah, that was a legit pain in the ass. But at least I am handy enough to open the back panel and figure it out. I know some people would have given in and just taken the load of soaking wet clothes to a laundromat and bought a new washer. Yikes!

Lol flood in landery room.oh yeh this is really a problem

@mikepm74 this is a picture of dam oh is it your laundry still there after this heavey flood lol kidding

i found this gif for your post

What a coincidence, fortunately we haven't flooded here, but the machine stayed full this morning and wouldn't drain. It's not the filter so I'm now hoping I can find a blockage somewhere and that it's not the pump that needs replacing.

hmmmm... I seem to recall us having a load do that too, but can't remember what the solution was at that point.

I think in our case the tension clamp holding the rubber water release line in place just shook loose over 12 years of loads. It's back on securely now for sure!

Mmm...... I've been investigating and cant see anything. The only thing I can think to do now is remove the drain pipe from the sump of the kitchen sink drain, there's a possibility the ptoblem lies there, but not holding my breath. I'll take a look later. We can't grumble, as we were gifted it almost new a few years back now..

Glad you've got yours sorted. My lady said the best thing to do when the washing machine is going mad and trying to walk across the floor, is sit on top of it. She says it doesn't really help the washing machine, but it sure does feel good................ lol. ;)

This happened to me too the last year, the fun thing is something even worse happened before that. I'm on the second floor of the building. The dude on the fifth floor got a broken pipe and you can imagine how there is water everywhere all the way to the first floor. And he was at work. With the door locked. We had shut down the electricity to the whole building and to break the door, find where is the broken pipe and fix it. We called him when we were done, sent him some pictures with the damages. The dude came as fast as he could and gave us a bottle of old whiskey. That was one of those moments that you don't think... just act :D
