The STEEM Park grand opening was this Sunday, July 16th 2017! The Park is now open to the public, free for anyone to visit and explore! Our team was thrilled with the final result and hope that you are as well. We couldn't have ever made this project a reality without the help of thousands of Steemians all across the globe. STEEM Park was a true community effort! Now, this project is helping the IRL community of Herbert Von King Park. The community leaders were absolutely blown away.

I spoke with dozens of park-goers on Sunday who were shocked to see all of these people unloading new furniture and planting beautiful flowers. One man described it like a shot of adrenaline that the community needs to push their community forward. I can say for certain that this is not the end of STEEM Park, this is the beginning...
@hansikhouse and I ( collectively we are @hitheryon ) were absolutely thrilled. Thank you ALL so much for coming out on Sunday and for your endless support and enthusiasm both online and off-line. We, as a community, made this vision a reality!

This is one of the greatest powers of Steemit.

A great question! We're working with the conservancy right now to develop a long term / seasonal plan. They want the park to become a permanent fixture, which we're thrilled about! Our goal is to use Steemit as a resource to continue funding the maintenance and upkeep of the plants and planters as time goes on. We have some exciting updates on this that we'll be announcing in the next couple weeks. Stay tuned! :D

I was trying to head over to Brooklyn from New Jersey and had something come up. Looked like a great showing. Question how do you plan on keeping the metal on the planters from rusting ? Looks like they need paint unless you cleared over it?

No worries @dwolfe! We'll have another meetup soon. We've treated the plywood and testing a portion of the metal now. We're debating doing a coat of paint in a week. We may not end up treating all of it because the rust color is actually pretty appealing in person / and has "cured" surprisingly well. I'll definitely let you know what we end up going with...
