[EN/RU] CAUTION! - Steempay – My working experience with @steve-walschot!steemCreated with Sketch.

in steempay •  8 years ago  (edited)

Today, I have to write an unpleasant article even though I have tried very hard to avoid it. As Steve is continuing to be dishonest (at least towards me), I have to make this step forward and inform the community as well as other communities out there like GOLOS @hipster about what has happened to me and how it changed my relation to Steve.

Mid of July I was joining the steempay project to help bootstrap it with my design skills etc. The idea sounded great, so I decided to help Steve to get this off the ground asap. After a few weeks and more and more community projects I joined and contributed to, I had less time to contribute directly to this project as well as steemfest got announced.

At about this time Steve mentioned his bad life situation going on (I let him publish the details) and he wouldn't able to work much on steempay since he had to pay other creditors. Until here, there's no problems. He was getting big money for his steempay.io announcements etc .. and I started to look more in detail about code and his ability to work on this project without having to delegate etc, as I was facing a fair amount of working back log with other community projects (steemfest, OSLO, …).

Some numbers

Steve got more or less ($34k) out of STEEM

When he mentioned his current bad life situation and that he has to work on steempay at spare time due other private related obligations, i decided to offer him to pay him a temp. loan of about 1.782 EUR in BTC so he'd be able to continues focussing on steempay.

After he was asking me to provide more screen designs for a mobile version of steempay, i was getting more cautious, as during that time several mobile apps were already launched - so in my opinion no need for another one.

Before he then was about to publish the wordpress woo commerce steempay payment plugin, I asked for an audit to make sure it was safe to use. He published without taking my advise of an audit. After a serious bug was found and reported he went silent ...! (Remember steve is claiming to be one of the TOP 30 european security auditors and penetration testers.) .

Since then we have some contact via steemit.chat, but he is telling me every day another story of why he isn't able to pay back the loan. And after my comment here he replied in private, I'll let him publish his complete answer , and then once more only silence.

I feel bad about having to make this step forward into public but it appears Steve continues to be dishonest as well as refusing to repay the loan I gave him, which leaves me little choice in the matter.

I've had a privilege to meet @cass in Oslo, and I can vouch he is a really good person. Rarely do I see someone considerate of other people in his network, and willing to help.

Unfortunately, sometimes, less conscious people will take advantage of that (the takers).

Speaking from experience, the best thing to do is to write-off the loss, write-off the person that wronged you, and move on asap. Not doing so will only cause further losses in time, energy and well being.

Thank you for bringing the issue up, and helping others avoid falling into the same trap.

dude well said! couldn't say it better - yea it was my pleasure to meet you there! Exicited about having some beer in Amsterdam. Let's continue talking via PM .. let me know when u will arrive . maybe 1-2 days earlier? If so let me know .. i'm considering to rent an AIRbnb for 5-6 people before the fest ..

indeed, well said!

Unvoted as witness. Honestly... I should have done it when the garbage wordpress plugin that didn't even validate basic GET security... and he was pedling garbage about how it was a "feature"... lol

So yeah, you offered me a loan after i refused it for several weeks.

You told me ' don't worry man, pay me back by the end of the year. It's just numbers on a screen'.

I told you even before we agreed on this loan it would be hard for me to pay it back asap but you replied

And that never happened. That's the only reason we're still not settled.

Anyway, like i said before, these are private matters and having issues between us is unrelated to the work I contribute to.

Nice post, i'll even resteem it for you. Nothing to hide except personal issues.

Like i said from the beginning; Money makes enemies. #1 reason why i refused your offer for several weeks.

So you are saying i was forcing you to use my offer? Right? How are u able to sleep well i have to ask you? What are ur deliveries for the $34k you got out of steem, when we not talking about the loan.

(Except of publishing alpha app announcement and a highly insecure payment plugin) ... as one of the top 25 security experts in EU .. are u noticing what bullshit you're talking here. I'm tired about your excuses or like u are trying to manipulate others here. Your history in well at least shady actions like this proof this.

Just a quick look on his history on steemit, he made a decent money from ur influence (using ur name, design and etc. on his posts). Your direct votes to his comments gave him easy money too (e.g. very silly Thank you got 75$). Can't pay back a 2000$ loan it's unacceptable behavior, IMHO.

You forgot to switch accounts man...

You forgot to be honest and pay back the loan.

Why did you edited all your posts man, like this one?

I was offering you a fair alternative to give me a date and make this public here .. so we'd have a time proof .. but declined to give an answer on any date ... but still i should think u don't want to scam me.

Steve. Pay him back the money instead of focusing on him editing his posts (every iteration of which is on the blockchain anyway)

@cass if you look at WalletExplorer the money went straight to CoinGaming.io (probably Bitcasino.io) wallet.
Steve maybe has Gambling Problem.

i just grabbed my popcorn!

lol, @ekitcho.... "Ask Steve" on background

@cass the fastest way to lose a friend is by lending him money, imagine a complete stranger online. Not trying to hammer you, but I been down that route before. I hope you get the issue resolved, but I have my doubts.

TBH the money is not what bugging me most! The attitude how to deal with people who trying to help. And the time and motivation it costs on top of.

Bummer. I've seen a few other posts that indicate there might be some issue with @steve-walschot. Sorry you lost money working with him. Hopefully he just bit off more than he can chew and is not acting maliciously.

Hopefully he just bit off more than he can chew and is not acting maliciously.

Hopefully yes but i'm not sure anymore about .. pity but true .. yea .. but this is just my personal opinion !

You're not the only one.

Hopefully, this gets sorted . Hate to see two great members of the community go at it :/
