- Contemporary
It is an adjective which means living or occurring at the same time; or belonging to or occurring in the present. This is just the exact word befitting to describe this prominent, Mediterranean-inspired scenic spot located in Antipolo City, Rizal, none other than Pintô Art Museum. A combination of both natural and man-made arts. A mixture of modern and novelty paintings. Pintô Art Museum is definitely a gateway of both worlds - past and present.
As featured by @beyonddisability, he described Pintô Art Museum as "A Sanctuary at the Heart of the City"(https://steemit.com/steemitantipolo/@beyonddisability/a-sanctuary-at-the-heart-of-the-city) for his own perspective, it gives off a feeling of rejuvenation and having everything at ease as you experience wandering inside the venue.
HISTORY
Because of the Filipinos' dedication to the study of Philippine contemporary art, Pintô Art Museum was born. Its name Pintô comes from the Tagalog vernacular word for door or doorway. It signifies the role of the institution as a threshold of the mind to aesthetic consciousness and cultural awareness. The museum's philosophy is defined by its founder and patron, renowned Filipino neurologist and medical educator Joven Cuanang. Sir Joven began collecting the pieces from the early 1990s to the present. And later, his extensive collection was formally presented to the public with the opening of the museum in 2010.
The initial acquirement and acquisition of artworks began as support for the development of careers of the group of artists called The Salingpusa. But since then, the collection has grown to include other pieces of the subsequent generations of artists. The collection features more than 200 works of sculptures, paintings and installations. The buildings that house the art pieces are designed by Antonio Leaño. Sir Antonio is one among the original group of young stalwarts whom sir Joven supported in his early career.
Surrounding the museum is a two hectare garden complex known as the Silangan Gardens. It is an ecological work of art with its variety of plants and a sanctuary for birds, serving as a habitat for both fauna and flora. A set of statues made alternatively of stone and candlewax dotted the gardens. In the middle of the green lawn was an antique four poster bed laid out with crisp white sheets. The garden itself is very lovely with lots of different art installations around.
The Museum operates a gallery, whose programs include exhibitions of contemporary Philippine art. This gallery is famed for its post-worthy architecture and has taken over every social media feed since it opened doors to the public. Works in the museum show how Filipino artists were able to fuse academic art formation with personal integrations of modernist persuasions such as Surrealism, Expressionism, Minimalism to Social Realism and Conceptual Art but with a vigilance in identity and rootedness. The themes and subjects featured in the works appeal to the universal human condition, but expressed in the unique historical and cultural experience of being a Filipino.
Post-Modernism
In art, postmodernism was specifically a reaction against modernism which had dominated art theory and practice since the beginning of the 20th century. The term postmodernism is also widely used to describe challenges and changes to established structures and belief systems that took place in Western society and culture from the 1960s onwards. Pintô Art Museum contains a massive yet well-curated collection of post-modern paintings. Walking around Pinto Art Museum is a visual treat. With aged doorways, windows, and quirky art pieces, every turn of the corner reveals something interesting.
Even their cafeteria displays a different form of artistry. The café was nice and cozy. A Meditteranean-inspired background of the café lightens the mood of customers. Their foods are worth at moderate prices for an astounding assortment of delicious, sumptuous meals. They offer a wide variety of appetizing, palatable menu from different food categories to choose from. From the typical Filipino home-made viands up to Italian and American dishes and cuisines, they sure have lots to offer. Light meals which include pasta and pizza were considered bestsellers. The coffee was excellently brewed to perfection. Their famous, delightful tamarind shake is a must try when you visit their restaurant.

The whole place can also be rented for photo shoots, pre-nuptials, wedding receptions and other events. As everything in this place is Instagram-worthy, we assure you that even an amateur photographer can turn his shots into finer, professional snaps. Photoshoot rates are 7,500pesos for five hours at the upper garden, lower garden and the indigenous art museum.
The whole place was clean, including the bathrooms. Even their restrooms are marvels of interior design. It only shows that their property upholds the highest standard of maintenance. The museum may be old, but it looks well kept. The eclectic art collections always remained shiny, well-polished and graceful. The gardens, while overflowing with fallen leaves from the trees still looks neat. Orderliness is properly observed within the premises.
It also has an in house chapel where you can meditate well because of the peacefulness of the surroundings
