Flashback Friday: Manila to Sagada Ride

in steemph •  7 years ago

Since I am yet to embark on another long distance bicycle ride. I just want to look back on a ride we did last December 2016. This was by birthday ride. From Manila all the way to Sagada, Mountain Province. 3 days of power pedaling, conquering the mountains of Nueva Viscayaand the Mountain Province

So this is me before the ride. About to go the meetup place where we we're supposed to leave at 12:00 A.M. I have to pedal some 30kms to go to the meetup place and meet my cycling buddies.

And this is us. Team Manila APOL as we call ourselves. Manila to Any Point of Luzon. This was taken in front of 7Eleven at Mall of Asia, Pasay City, Philippines.

And as we always do. We take a group picture at KM Zero to mark the beginning of the ride. That's in Rizal Park, Manila.

This is our first stop. About 70ims from where we started. We had to meet 2 more of our cycling buddies who live somewhere in Bulacan.

And this is our second stopped. Unplanned though. One got a punctured tire so we have to wait for his tire to get fixed.

And another stop to refill our water bottles and have our little snack. During long rides, most of our stop overs are 7Elevens because they have a lot of branches along the way and they have power bars, drinks and what not.

Sometimes we regroup at arcs and take some pictures too. This is in Cabanatuan, our first stop after sunrise.

And this was taken after our breakfast.

Some more arc and random pictures.

After having our lunch, the sun was not that friendly. The scorching heat forced us to stop for a while and take a little nap and again, some pictures.

Moments like these are my favorite part of the ride. We get to talk and get to know each other. Some of us met for the first time on this ride.

At round 2PM or so when we noticed that the heat of the sun is already bearable, we decided to continue on. By that time we we're already in the mountains of Nueva Vizcaya I think. Here are some really cool pictures of mother nature.

No more 7Eleven around the area so we decided to take our short break in this sari-sari store

After a quick break, the fun continues....

At this point we were already trying to find a place to spend the rest of the night. We've been pedaling for more or less 15 hours to get to this point. But first, dinner.

And then time for bed.

The following morning we had to wake up early because on our itinerary, we have a lot of kilometers to cover and the terrain is all mountain. Day 2 of our ride, we will be covering mostly the Mountain Province.

This is us at around 4am before we left the hotel.

After breakfast

And more pics

Day 2 concluded. Time to find a place for dinnder and a place to spend the rest of the night.

The following morning. Again we had to wake up early. But before leaving immediately. We had to take more pictures because we were at Banaue where the famous Banaue Rice Terraces can be found. Look!

Also we, had to take our turns in this very unique wooden bike.

And then resume pedaling. This time straight to our target destination, Sagada.

These pictures don't give justice to the actual image though. It's so much more beautiful if only you can see it with your own eyes

And finally, we arrived.

And started to see the beauty of Sagada.

The highlight of our mini-tour is this one. The Sagada hanging coffins.

That's about it! Here are some more pictures on our way home.
