Steem Power HODL'ers Vs Bid Bots

in steempower •  6 years ago  (edited)

What is the point Powering Up or Holding Steem Power when The power to Trend something (or the so called 'influence') on Steemit lies with Bid-Bots that have huge upvote values?

THINK About it...

As a User I see no Merit in powering Up

As I as a curator will always lose to a Whale Bid-Bot

Maybe I'd rather hold Steem than Steem Power

so, where the solution Prakash !??

I have no clue --

Steemit people do nothing to address the bot issue

They will probably address all steemit issues there and have a model similar to steemit.

ALSO, Dan Larimer the creator of Steemit has launched EOS Blockchain and is working on Steemit 2.0, which he will name later...so we may move there when that happens

the biggest problem that every new "steem" will become the same Steem as we know it bcos this bots and whales piramida is very convenient for ppl who hold this market and roll not small money here.
about the new places - i'm one year here and my posts are still not high in prices. and they never will be there, even i builded some "Reputation" and a "voting power" i still have nothing to move with me to another place and have to start from 0 and who said that this new Steem will be empty of the deceit ?

Agreed 100%!
My question with ONO is this: What happens when the Chinese government decides it doesn't like a decentralised blogging platform? Especially when people start putting anti-government stuff on there.

Of course that risk is already there with steemit too, as crypto is not legal in most countries.

I understand all of it Victor...

In Fact the most sane advice I can give you which will surely deliver long term gain is to write articles on your own blog.

I just saw your photography blog.. you have a detailed blog.

and it looks awesome.

Does that make you money Victor? It should as it looks great.

Write long 3000 word articles on Photography at least 15-20 of them every year... for the next 5 years.

Post Affiliate links or Place some Ads..

Let me know if you have tried this or not?

thank you for the kindest words Prakash and this advise. actually i always said this even when Google plus was alive platform, that the right thing to do with all the social platforms is to direct the traffic to one centralised place - as usual it's personal web site. and you know this concept is working for me almost in every place - Google plus as most active (even it became the Ghost town), also Facebook photo page and Twitter in same amount of activity both.
But nothing is coming to my site from Ello, from Steem and Instagram. Just nothing. This Steemit is attempts to be (or to stay) stand alone platform and ppl almost don't check the links from our posts. So the right way is to duplicate activity in blog site and here. (actually steemcleaners don't like this and require to post a links from the external posts to the Steemit account for verification, but i don't like this idea to promote this place at my site)
yes i tried Google Ads in my site but stopped and removed them when i got some amount of incoming and Google asked me for the payment details and they don't send money to Paypal but only to the bank account. So i just decided to stop with them.
i'm really bad businessman and photography is an only hobey for me, even it bring me some incoming from different places but still too far for even to think about plan B and to live from but do not to shoot weddings.
300o word articles is too tight for me - i'm not a writer but photographer, and all these big writers about photography and around are actually very good promoters but if to be sincere = most of them just bad as photographers by my opinion and taste, as most of Photography workshops owners.

Good point, although the way I see it is the more powerful steem power I have I can vote on my own posts and also get curation rewards from others. There is no disadvantage to powering down either, you can just keep powering down if you want more Steem.

Thanks

I have roughly have about twice the Steem Power as you have and I have been here for more than a year and my vote value is $0.14 and yours is probably half that. So upvoting your own post will result in negligible profit,,

Small users are out of the equation.

Influence is an Illusion

Ok its not a contest, I wasn't having a go! It was just my opinion, its all relative, small gains are still gains.

No, no Dont get me wrong, I am not contesting

Was just trying to explain.

Calculate for yourself how much and for how many years you need to post content here to get your vote to $1

These small gains compared to mass reach and branding you get on instagram is nothing,.

Ok, your right it will take a long time. But for the time being I can't see any harm in powering up to share the love to people I follow and invest in steemit as a platform, if its not costing any money and you can power down at any point I don't see the harm :) Instagram started from the bottom too.

Yes :)

No harm in that approach.

The point is there is a plethora of social media platforms out there...

As content creators we should stick to one for long term rather than being present everywhere.

If we are present everywhere no one will work and we will keep hopping platform to platform ,

Imagine this, what if by the end of the year Facebook / Instagram launches a coin and we have given up on those platforms to be here.

We need to be vigilant

@prakashghai the hope is that the price of Steem will go to the moon. At $100 your steem power will be worth a house :)

Until then, it's all about faith and belief.

Yes, a higher Steem Price will definitely help but tell me this, people who leave instagram and facebook come here and learn that for them to make some decent money here they need to buy votes, its like hello give me a $200 salary job but Oh I need to pay you $150 first to get the $200
