Iceland - ice, fire and sky mirages

Just a few days ago I contemplated ion one group how wonderful it could be to visit Iceland, because my own climate became unbearable for me.

An every summer I am struggling with the same problem; I am simply not built for a climate this warm. Time to move on Titan...

Place like the Iceland doesn't have a romantic chime, and only a few are interested to actually spend their vacation there. I found a few people who share my enthusiasm on Steemit but I was still surprised.

A volcano ornamented and ice bound panorama with the with the abundance of the geysers, hot springs and lava patches doesn't excite too many people.

So, what is Iceland about?

Well, most of the population is shoved into the Reykjavík, capital and the largest city, coastline is populated and the rest is pretty much an uninhabitable natural beauty as the whole place is unstable and geologically active.

Many people think that Iceland must be freaking cold, because it is set so far North, but teh fact is that the Gulf Stream keeps the climate temperate.

The whole year between may and September the temperatures are around 10 degrees Celsius. That's hardly polar...

Another great thing about Iceland is that it has a pretty low tax, as comparison to other countries. The healthcare and education is free, same like in my country- one more benefit of course. I already love it.

Icelanders are mainly Scandinavians, old Norse, North Germanic and Gaelic, and the language is kind of specific and by etiology it is an Old North Germanic language.

Stuff to see in Iceland?

Not staying indoors, Iceland is all about nature. They are also very ecologically aware up there, plus their entire capital runs on geothermal... Think about that.

There are a lot of other things, many include climbing, routes, national parks, breath taking scenarios, whale watching etc. etc.

Food

The second on my list of a very important things is food.
There is a lot of fish and sea food, and historically in grain deficit, the Icelanders mainly substitute the bread with stockfish such as the dried haddock, wolffish or cod. So, instead of teh gluten rich carbs, you will be living of teh protein rich diet. Interesting.
They also had no sugar in the past, so nowadays their sweets are plagued by teh liquorice. You will find it almost everywhere.
This doesn't mean there is no bread whatsoever, the Icelanders have it now in abundance. So it is lamb, puffin, whale and horse meat.
The carb enthusiast recommend trying few dishes such as cinnamon filled bread covered in chocolate, Icelandic pancakes and rye bread ice cream. I wouldn't complain to try that.
So much about this, more about Icelandic food in next post.
