Hello friends cinephiles!. I present my retro-movie segment of today to relive those good memories of those movies and that marked a beautiful time.
Today I will share "Spawn", is a film based on the cartoon of the same name by Canadian artist Todd McFarlane starring Michael Jai White and John Leguizamo as the villain.
Synopsis
Al Simmons (Michael Jai White) is a government super-agent who is killed by his boss, the evil Jason Wynn with the help of his terrible collaborator, the so-called "Clown" (John Leguizamo). Wishing to see his beloved Wanda again and blinded by revenge, Simmons decides to make a pact with the devil and returns to earth as a horrible and disfigured demon in charge of leading the Army of Darkness in Armageddon.

***Curiosities:***

-Spawn was the first adaptation of a comic to have a black actor (Michael Jai White) playing the titular superhero.

-Rights "given", McFarlane came to sell the rights of adaptation for only $ 1 dollar (a nominal amount simply not to give them away), in exchange for having the creative control and keep the rights of all the merchandising.

-The controversial R-rated tag. At present the movie Deadpool that had this classification and the expectations at the box office were not so good result all a success but in 1997 they did not want to risk and decided to modify the final version, softening the violence, so that it was released with the most familiar label of PG-13.

-A relatively successful box office. The premiere of Spawn, debuted second in the collection in the United States, behind the film Air Force One. The budget was $ 40 million dollars, and in total raised almost $ 90 million worldwide.

-Differences with the comic:
Terry Fitzgerald, the best friend of Al Simmons before his death, is black in the comics but in the film he is played by a white actor (D. B. Sweeney). According to McFarlane, this election was originated by the fact that the studio did not want to have so many black leading actors, believing that this would give the false impression that the film was aimed at the African-American audience.
The nature of Spawn's powers was also changed.

-Special effects:
If there is something really remarkable in the film are the special effects, which make the visual aspect the most interesting thing that it has. The budget initially allocated for Spawn was $ 20 million dollars, but amounted to $ 40 million due to special effects costs, which were needed in more than 400 shots of the film. The most difficult special effects to create were those that gave the final appearance to the character of the Clown / Violator, the digital layer of Spawn, and some of the sequences of his transformation.

-A committed actor: Michael Jai White joined the film because he said he liked the character very much. According to the actor, Spawn was at that time "the most tragic character I've seen in any film production." He also said it was a challenge for him to make the audience identify with someone like Spawn, a murderer who returns from hell. The conditions in which she had to play Spawn were not the most pleasant: she had to be between two and four hours with her face covered in makeup, wearing a full suit stuck to her body, yellow contact lenses that irritated her eyes and a mask that made breathing difficult. White said that it was possible to do all this thanks to his training in martial arts, which gave him a strong will and an enormous capacity for concentration.

-Extra Skills: Wesley Snipes was considered for the role of Spawn before Michael Jai White.
Also Cuba Gooding Jr. and Snoop Dogg were candidates to play Spawn.
The heavy metal band Iced Earth made a conceptual album in 1996 entitled The Dark Saga, which is entirely based on the Spawn comic and includes it on its cover. Because of this, the band was offered the opportunity to appear in the soundtrack of the film, but they refused because they considered that it included too much techno music.
