Today is my bestfriend's birthday, not the drinking one, the other one. She has been a close friend of mine for about 10 years now. She is a cheerful person with an obsession with fairy lights. Thus, I decided to take her to a café with this specific special feature for her birthday. I picked her up late morning for a brunch date and we set off together.
The location of the café is rather odd, as it is located by the road, within the same building as a showroom. Due to this, parking was really easy to find. We entered the two floor café straight from the parking lot. The counter was right at the entrance, manned by two baristas. There were a few tables on the ground floor, but we opted to be seated upstairs for more privacy. Plus, the fairy lights were all upstairs!
The waitress led us up the narrow staircase and she literally squealed in delight the moment the fairy lights shone on her face.
The purple lights were of a long, stick-light shape which shone brightly. It was quite a sight indeed, but slightly blinding. We chose a table by the balcony where the action of those on the ground floor can be seen, so that we can watch the baristas at work.
We ordered two main dishes each, complete with a pot of rose flower tea costing RM16. It took a while for our orders to arrive, but we did not mind as we were busy admiring the baristas down below even though we did not fancy coffee much.
Our orders came at the same time and the waitress served my friend's Bruschetta 3 Way for RM20 in front of her, and my Cured Salmon Spaghetti on my side for RM26 .
The rose flower tea was served in a clear teapot along with two cute shaped shallow cups. The tea tasted very refreshing and light, unlike most flower teas. My friend's bruschetta was plated in a three separate bruschetta style, whereby “3 Way” basically meant three different toppings which includes feta cheese, grilled chicken and cured salmon. The toppings were paired with different kinds of vegetables such as tomatoes and spinach. She was happy with the taste, but the bruschetta was pretty hard and it was messy to eat.
On the other hand, my cured salmon pasta was also beautifully presented with a poached egg in the middle. They added on some extremely salty biscuit bits which I found really queer. The pasta was basically carbonara which tasted fine, but the taste of the mushroom was a little too strong for me. The best part was the cured salmon which matched the dish as a whole pretty well. Overall rating is 9/10, a café that I would highly recommend!
