John Kim and the Litecoin Family Go Crazy for Crypto Adoption

in steempress •  6 years ago

I had the opportunity to speak with John Kim, Litecoin evangelist, supporter, and Twitter troll hammer! John Kim is Litecoin creator Charlie Lee’s personal Twitter troll bodyguard. John loves the Litecoin community, unlike anyone I’ve ever met. He is personally taking the mission of #CryptoAdoption to another level by crisscrossing the country in an effort to spread the benefits of Litecoin to people and businesses all across the United States. Below is the transcript of the recorded conversation that John and I had a few days ago. All Questions, (Q,) were asked by me whereas all blockquotes were answered by John. He is taking on this journey to show people just how easy the Cryptocurrency Adoption campaign can be.

Hey #LitecoinFam I will be going on a #LTC30for30 around US in my truck sleeping in motels to meet 30 fam in 30 days w/ events & giveaways while pushing adoption, , setup wallets, donating LTC & using it. Road to LTC summit. To donate: LWjLfT16z3QdAivsbsrd5VETrcnFQQst3y pic.twitter.com/3EubGuNx6X

Q.1. So, John, your Twitter handle is SatoshiLites Bodyguard. Do you care to explain where you came up with it? I mean, are you literally Charlie Lees bodyguard, or only from Twitter trolls?

“I made my twitter handle SatoshiLites bodyguard because I'm not a technical guy. I don’t know much about computer science or much on the development side of things. I used to be a cage fighter so I thought being SatoshiLites bodyguard would really fit my image. I asked Charlie Lee to give me a follow and he started following me. He asked me to be his twitter bodyguard and fight all the trolls on twitter which I thought was kind of funny. But for me, I took it seriously ya know? I was very grateful that SatoshiLite followed me. I am starting to think that this may actually be a self-fulfilling prophecy. In the future, I hope to travel with Charlie and actually be his bodyguard.”

Q.2. The fundraiser you are currently involved in, what is it called? 30 Litecoin Fans in 30 days? Do you have a corporate sponsor, or is this all you?

“It's called #LTC30for30. It’s not really a fundraiser. It was an idea that was burning inside my heart because so many people, including myself, just talk too much sometimes. To really further the crypto revolution, we have to realize that nobody wants to hear more opinions about how blockchain works. I think most newbies out there who have never heard of Bitcoin, Litecoin, or cryptocurrency, in general, aren't really interested in knowing the intricacies of how blockchain works. If we are able to convince people by showing them transactions in real life, explaining the technology in a simple way so that the average Joe can understand it. I thought that would be really cool. Plus LoafWallet is so EASY!!”

“I wanted to go out for 30 days throughout the country, meeting 30 people from the Litecoin family. I want to hold events and really push adoption while bringing awareness. It was just an idea so I tweeted it. Sometimes when I have an idea I’ll declare it publicly so that I will be held accountable. It makes me go for it even more because I have declared it. I don’t have a Corporate sponsor, but after I posted the tweet I realized that this wouldn't be cheap. Hotels motels, fuel, food, giving away Litecoin when a new person downloads the wallet, expenses add up. I won't be working for the 30 days either, which means no income coming in. At the same time, I didn’t want to pressure the Litecoin Foundation or anybody else to sponsor me because whether I am sponsored or not, my mind was set and I was going, No matter what.”

“The fundraising part of it was definitely an afterthought. I started to realize this could end up being really expensive. I thought to reach out and see if anyone wanted to join me on this journey, but no pressure. Really. The thing is, I don’t like Fundraisers, because I don’t want to use guilt or pressure to get people to join me on this journey. Only if someone is really excited about this and has a deep desire in wanting to give than sure, I will take that. Never out of force or cohesion or anything like that.”

Q.3. Where did the idea for a cross-country road trip come from? I must admit that I love the idea of spreading adoption, but isn’t a month a long time John? What will keep you going this whole time, what will keep you awake and motivated during exhaustion on this unique adventure?

“It is a long time yes. I just felt that the US is such a big country though. I should put myself out there and put myself into a position where I will not be able to take a break. I spoke with my wife about it and she didn’t agree at first. My wife also knows what I am like when I am passionate about something So she came around.”

“In a weird way, I believe that this trip will relieve me of the pressures of daily business and life. I’ll be working out, eating right, and I will have a good vibe and energy when meeting people and holding events. I'm really looking forward to it.”

Q.4. So how long have you been involved in Litecoin? What about Crypto as a whole? Have you known SatoshiLite for a long time?

“I’ve known Charlie since around January or February of this year. I’ve been into crypto for around two years now.

Q.5. So I saw in your video tweet that you will be giving out some pretty cool ŁTC swag on your journey. Do you have a specific demographic that you will try and approach when spreading the good Litecoin news? Old, or young? Men or women? Cadillac or Chevrolet so to speak? Anything like that to choose who you will share your message with?

“It doesn’t matter to me. Demographics do not matter. I'll talk to everyone and anyone because everyone needs to see and experience these transactions. Everyone needs to have these wallets on their phones so that they will be reminded of Litecoin and Cryptocurrencies later on. They will be all set up to use it when everything explodes.”

“We got some cool LTC gear, t-shirts, lanyards, key-chains, basically stuff that the average person would be cool with receiving. We are still accepting donations of LTC swag to give out on the trip, but again I don’t want to pressure anyone.”

Q.6. So what is the plan of attack? Start from where in Texas on what date and time? Which route will you be taking West to San Fran, or are you just kind of letting the wind point your sails?

“Honestly, I'm not a great organizer. I am just going to pick some cities, and states, and rely on tweeting before I get to a certain spot. One thing I am doing is lots of Direct Messages on Twitter. #LitecoinFam members from different states are so supportive! I am getting a lot of help from people setting things up so that when I show up we can just hit the events together. I was going to start the first week of August, but I am starting at my friends restaurant this Saturday Thai Thumbz in Richardson, TX. We are going to set up a table at the restaurant, Live-stream and get this party started! If anyone is interested, There is a post on Twitter with the East Coast states I will be visiting. Definitely take a look at that.”

Q.7. So the summit is going to be HUGE!! Are you as excited about the Global Litecoin Summit as the rest of us? What about the event exactly are you looking forward to the most? How about the least?

“The Summit is going to be HUGE! I believe that this is the most important conference of the year. It's not about pumping ICO’s or any other fluff like that. Litecoin is the real deal. It is going to be real people. Speakers that are actually writing history. I am looking forward to Charlie and Elizabeth from Lightning Lab's speeches. I think that the Lightning network will be used Globally. It's going to change the game and bring crypto to the mainstream. I am very excited to hear her. I will also have a booth on the second day for my company Liteco.shop. I will be selling my Litecoin Logo light and I am really looking forward to that as well as meeting everyone. What I don’t like about it is, well, nothing! I am super excited to see and meet everyone from the #LiteCoinFam!”

Q.8. Litecoin has been stagnant price wise for a long time now. Is it your personal opinion that the Litecoin currency is undervalued? If so by how much? What should LTC be worth at this very moment as it compares to big brother BTC?

“The Litecoin Currency is VERY undervalued. Without price manipulation and considering all the things going on behind the scenes, I believe that Litecoin should be closer to 4 digits by now. I believe that in about a year Litecoin will be 1/5th the price of Bitcoin. There is no reason that Litecoin shouldn't be already. As the Lightning network continues to roll out and become better and stronger, I think that Litecoin will catch up to BTC. Litecoin is VERY undervalued right now. I’m projecting the rise in Litecoin this year to be so shocking that it will literally baffle peoples minds!”

Q.9. Will you be taking the journey by yourself, or do you have a comrade to share the road duties with?

“As of right now, I will be driving by myself, however, I am in search of someone who can take over the video aspect of the trip for me so that I am able to do my thing but we’ll see how it goes. I am going to be meeting up with a lot of people so that when we do meet up I’ll find out if anyone wants to volunteer to be my cameraman so I can do my thing. If not, I'll get a tripod and do my thing. I don’t plan, I just wing it. I am very spontaneous that way and I can make things happen so we’ll see how it goes. There are about 12 people waiting and ready to go in the NY and NJ area. It's going to be fun. I also have people in Austin getting ready to go. I’ve gotten a lot of messages from people in Florida, and Ohio. I’m going to Missouri to meet up with BitcoinBen and we are heading a meet-up there as well.”

Q.10. As we all know, the #Łitecoinfam is an ever-growing community of people from all walks of life. How do you explain the phenomenon that cryptocurrencies like Litecoin have had on people? In other words, why is the Litecoin community different than say, Ripple? Will this effect continue to grow exponentially?

“The #LitecoinFam is different. Charlie Lee is like the head of this family. Even though Litecoin is decentralized the #LitecoinFam is the best community because we have the best leader! I don’t mind people that have great marketing skills. I just think that too much marketing without substance is a road to failure. When you have a solid, SOLID project that has been running since 2011, a strong blockchain and the king of script what else do you need? The silver to Bitcoins gold, a coined phrase for Litecoin is all the marketing we really need. I don’t think that you need to pump it. Promoting and marketing are good in the short term, but true growth has to be organic. Especially in a decentralized environment. The coin should speak for itself and the growth will happen organically. That’s what I love about Charlie. He is consistent in what he does and says time and time again. He can't be bought. When I see that for myself, it makes me want to position myself as the guy that people in the LitecoinFam can trust. I want people to see that I am consistent in the things that I do and say. I’m not going to be coerced by money to shill other products.”
Kim continues,
“I really look up to Charlie and the way that he leads. I like to follow his example but in my own way. I want all the people in the #LitecoinFam to be known as the bunch that walks-the-walk, and talks-the-talk. Over time we will all continue to push adoption and will be known as the community that acts on their word. I think that the reason I am doing this is to light a fire in other people. I just want people to be done with excuses. People not knowing what to do or what to say. By seeing someone like me go out and get it done, even a simple person that doesn’t know much about blockchain can get it done.”

“There will be rejections and failures along the way. You just keep going through. The #LitecoinFam will grow so big and have such a huge voice that will not be ignored in the near future. It will happen because we are more than just keyboard warriors. We can actually make things happen!”

My Final thoughts.

I’d like to thank John Kim for not only taking the time out of his busy life to chat with me but also for embarking on this amazing journey to spread the awareness and importance of cryptocurrencies, specifically Litecoin to the heart of our great nation.

Thank you very much, John, for your time!

“Thank you, Chris, for taking the time to interview me. Someone who isn't an influencer. Someone like me who isn't famous or anything like that. Someone who is just starting out like you.”

“I just want to let everyone know that as history unfolds before our very eyes, five, even ten years from now, people are not going to remember what was tweeted. People are going to remember how much of an impact individual people and certain communities had on cryptocurrency adoption. If and when Litecoin becomes one of the two major worldwide currencies, I want to be remembered as one of the guys that actually went out and did something about adoption.”

“I’m just proud to be apart of this. I’m also grateful for the Litecoin Foundation for giving me a chance and allowing me to volunteer for them!"

"I am very grateful for and to Charlie Lee. Charlie not only made a great coin, but he gave me a new passion in my life to go for.I feel so much more alive these days because I no longer want to pursue money. Even if I go broke, I don’t care. I want to do what I love and I love Litecoin. My true desire is for the Litecoin Family to become the biggest and best community in all of crypto!”

He will accept hats, shirts, buttons, stickers, basically anything that has a ŁTC emblem on it to give out during his adoption campaign.

Litecoin would be greatly appreciated to help him on this very important adoption mission, but only if you are in a secure financial situation and can afford to donate.

You can donate Litecoin to John’s address below, but only if you have a true passion for his mission.
