As my YouTube account quickly approaches 1,000 subscribers which makes my account opal level I thought why can't Steem have follower rewards? For those unfamiliar with YouTube's rewards system as an account gathers subscribers it unlocks special virtual and real life rewards. Access to specific creator studios, classes, meetups, and the famed play buttons. All of which helps to add a sense of community and value to the content creators.
So with that in mind I thought why can't Steem do something similar? With a bit of planning and work we can set a similar system up for Steem. We don't have to start big, maybe something framed and hangable that incorporates Steem and a user's username. We could hold a design contest for the framed reward, vote on follower levels and have a trustable whale collect donations(I'll definitely donate to grow the community). Overall I believe this will help build a strong community of users which will continue to value Steem and the community.
In the future it'd be nice to see top members get the ability to hold sponsored meet ups, Steem themed parties and additional rewards. What do you all think? If this takes off I suggest we use a tag steemrewards to discuss this idea.
