New Series: FORGOTTEN STEEM

in steemsharks •  8 years ago  (edited)

Many minnows on Steemit post great articles all of the time. A very large number of these posts don't even make it to the surface of Steemit. They get about 15 or so up-votes, then die off, never to be seen again! This has happened to me several times when I first started posting on Steemit. It happens a lot more than one would expect. I'm sure that steemers will be surprised to find out how many amazing posts can be dug up from the depths of Steemit!

The following is a pitch to the Steem Sharks.

Forgotten Steem will be a series of posts that allow users to submit their forgotten posts in the comment section. The top several posts will be featured in the following Forgotten Steem post. There will be a few rules:

  1. The post cannot be recent
  2. The post cannot already be successful

This will not only give you minnows a chance to redeem a low payout; it will give you some of the recognition that you deserve as a writer on Steemit.

This is a good opportunity to pitch the ideas that you just haven't figured out how to get off the ground yet.

I have already emailed my pitch, but I decided to do this little promo for a bit of Steemit visualization. If this idea doesn't get picked up by the Steem Skarks, I may just decide to pursue this on my own. Please up-vote this if you want this series to happen. My posts don't get a whole lot hype on their own.

There are a bunch of these projects now, focusing on more recent posts. None for older ones. Two questions:

  1. How old is old? Two weeks? Past payout?
  2. How unsuccessful? Is there a specific number of votes or a dollar amount threshold above which it would be considered successful and thus not eligible?

Definitely past two weeks. After two weeks, you might get a few votes or a comment, but that is all (usually). This shows that a post is truly not getting any more action.

On the successfulness, it is really based on judgment. I'd say for the most part, under 50 up-votes and under one dollar. Users can submit whatever they want, however. For example, of a post got 150 up-votes, but only 3 dollars, it is extremely unlikely that it will make the list, but not impossible. If it was the best Steemit post I have ever read in my life, I would include it, because it would definitely be undervalued. That is only an extreme example though, I don't expect that to happen. I am mostly looking for posts that have about 15 or so up-votes and zero dollars.

This will be really useful.

A lot of my posts get posted during the day Australian time (when this Steem-er is awake and alert). Payouts vary dramatically compared to the one a dopey Steem-er does at 1 am in the morning when fellow Steem-ers are awake and alert. All you have to do is look at the series of posts I have made about Australian Native Orchids - great photos in all of them but all posted at quite different times

Awesome! I know it will be great for some people. As for the time thing, when I finish writing something at 1 am, I will wait to post it until I wake up the next morning. For you, I guess you would need to wait until before you go to bed? I'm not sure what time is best to post when you live in Australia. I heard 9 am NY time was the best. It doesn't always make a big difference though, I have had successful posts at 1 am.

OK, then, here's my first one. Is there a rule on how often we can submit?

Not exactly, but you might want to stick to one per post or now. Thanks for submitting!
