The Two Ugly Canadians:

These "Two Ugly Canadians" are all the junk I have from Canada. Some interesting facts that may not be widely known about these Canadian coin.

1965 and 1960 Canadian Quarters

As you all know the pre 1965 U.S. Quarters are 90% silver. That would lead you to believe the same might be true of the Canadian Quarters but the pre 1965 Canadian Quarters were only 80% silver.

However the Canadian did not remove the silver until 1967. I guess that kind of evens things out.

The great thing about this junk silver is I received in change in the U.S.. Someone probably knew they were Canadian and thought they would sneek them into someones change to get rid of them. To whom ever it was I say "Thank You!".

That is some nice toning on the 1960 coin.

Being a little nerdy sometimes comes in handy huh 😃

Nice!

Very cool when you get silver in your change! only happened to me a couple of times that I remember (when I was a kid in the early 80's it probably happened more often but I didn't know). And I think that blackened 1960 is pretty nice, it looks to be in goodshape! #teamcanada

I had never heard of "Junk" silver till I became part of the Steemsilvergold community. I don't think we have anything like that here???? Do we Kiwi's? Would be great though. Those coins have definitely seen some action.

You sure do. some of the older coins are 50% silver like 1940's and older florins, shillings etc.

Must keep an eye out at the "Sallies" etc Thanks for that :)
