A “Burning” Question: To Pour Or Not To Pour?

Hello one and all Steemian/ Youtubian/ everyone else!! Welcome to D Wings World: Where information and adventure await! I am looking at very interesting and real question that a lot of us in the community often ponder. For some it results in a small hobby, for others a business, and for others it fades into the mist never to be revisited or seen again. That is whether one should consider pouring silver or other precious metals. Myself, I have contemplated this question for several months maybe a little longer because of all the great pourers we have in this community. I believe the answer to this question can be drawn from four main points. Of course there are others, however these four are what will drive a non-pourer to transcend into a pourer or not.
money.jpg

The first and maybe most important is money. As we all know money is what makes our hobbies and investments happen. Whether it is fiat, crypto, or precious metals we must have this resource to purchase not only supplies, equipment, shipping materials (if sharing or selling items), domain names (if doing web sales), and various other items that are needed to enhance this craft. A great way to determine how much or price out a basic starting price is to contact a community pourer. Simply, emailing and asking one of the many fine pourers in our community for information can save you a bunch of heart ache and solve many issues you may have.
time.jpg

The second point is very close to the first as it is a must have. That must have is time. What good is going through the expense of buying everything and getting set up only to find out you have no time to invest in this venture? I will relay how I thought this point through in my own case to hopefully help you find an answer to this question. Most of us have full time jobs or families (another full time job), so when we start pouring this will be an additional time requirement. I basically figured on 168 total hours in a full week and began subtracting from there to see what time frame I would be looking at. Career(Max High Priority) wise approx. 48 hours a week including commute times and other small items then 42 hours a week for sleep (Max High Priority). Now we are down to 78 hours over a seven day period. That’s 11 hours a day that must be split up between family (Max High Priority), side hustles (Middle Priority), and recreational hobbies (Middle Priority). Figuring that family should have at least that time we end up with six hour each day for Side hustles and recreational hobbies. I figured by integrating my YouTube/ Steemit hobbies with my pouring hobby that would allow me to achieve a pouring hobby, even if it was small to start with. This formula obviously may not work for you, but it all comes down to your current goals and what is important to you.

The third necessity is a facility or location to conduct your pouring. This can be anywhere from a garage, shed, properly vented and insulated interior area, but needless to say you will need a space. In order to make a location work you must have an idea of the equipment and space you will need to pour. For this information you can look at different set ups for various YouTube community pourers or you can simply contact one about the space they believe is needed. In my own situation, I have contacted some community pourers and also have a garage that is a workable space.

skills.jpg
The final factor is skill/practice, this factor is the combination of all the previous factors combined. All of the time and research you have placed into this interest in pouring will be evident here. This is where I will make sure to emphasize that if you have a pourer willing to teach you take advantage of this. Also, if you have any classes in your area take them to build your skill level and knowledge. There is never an unanswerable question as long as there is a will to seek the answer.

I hope that this little write up could give a little guidance in how I approached this topic, but I ask everyone if I missed something or didn’t elaborate on something enough please reply below and let me know! Pouring silver is an art and there are many around us that have experience with it and I welcome their wealth of knowledge to this question. As always thanks for taking a look at my content! I usually wonder where they get the Silver to Melt & Pour...
I would sure hate to melt down some of my nice Rounds...
Perhaps I might show one of my pours some day... At one
time, I was able to put Silver into, then take it out of Solution...
Beside Lead, I often used silver to help capture or refine the
Gold Concentrates... I would dissolve the Silver and the Gold
would remain... Yes... I've even Staked Mining Claims... So, I've
been around Gold and Silver more than the the average guy...

Very cool brother! I appreciate the great reply and you taking a look!!

Excellent post brother. Time is the biggest thing that hinders the pouring I get to do. Faith, family, and firearms...... and when theirs time pouring! My two boys are the most important thing to me and with them being 3 and 5 I feel like I need to devote my time to them right now. I’m responsible for them. Not the government!! 👍🏼🍺🥓

I appreciate the comment and the kind words!! I can understand that because even with my normal formula it is tough sometimes to make sure I am up to date on both YouTube and Steemit. You and I agree a ton on that perspective my friend! Your family should be highest on your list and that time you are spending with your kids is more fulfilling and beneficial than anything else. Personal responsibility is paramount and I wish more people realized it! Thanks for the comment and for taking a look!!

Great post dwings! Some great points there my friend. You can find a wealth of information from the silver pourers both here and on you tube, there are a few really good videos showing the basics to pouring and then there's the straight pouring videos where you can gleam a wealth of tips and techniques!
Go for it I say! It's great fun!😆👍

I am pretty much set on pouring it is all a matter of getting some other projects off my radar. I am currently doing a remodel on my second floor and working on a flip. So I am trying to squeeze more and more in lol. I will make sure to utilize all of the amazing talents in our community including you when I get to that point. Thanks so much for taking a look!!

Some good points. I have people ask me a lot how to pour and I just give them disinformation 🤣

LOL yea but you are so good even the disinformation still allows them to pour well :P
Thanks for taking a look brother!!
