Quote from Nelson Hunt

Does anyone here know the story of the Hunt Brothers? It really is a fascinating tale. Two Texas oil men who accumulated a massive store of physical silver (100,000,000+ ounces). But that wasn't enough for them. They then set about gaining even more exposure to the price of silver through millions of dollars more in silver futures contracts on the Commodities Exchange (COMEX). Unfortunately, things went south for the Hunt Brothers shortly after that...

The rest is a story for another time. What I have been thinking about recently is this simple quote from Nelson Hunt.

Nelson paid a big price for his silver. But the point is that he determined what he wanted and set about getting it. What do you want in life? Is there a clear path before you or does it require you forge your own path. What will help you get there? Money? Time? Education? Connections?

I am the tenth one to reply and till now no one answered your questions. Some answers about the brothers, some about the quote, but none answered what they want in life...
I will not leave you unanswered. At 69 years old, my path is in my past. I created it and I have no great regrets. So, I have already paid the price.
My future path is based in my grandchildren (that I don't have yet) and in occupying my time with family and friends. Some in the steemit community I include among my friends and that is why I spend a good amount of time here, writing, commenting and discussing.

That is good to be advanced on your path with no great regrets. Any advice for the youngsters around here?

You are a valued member of our community here -- especially steemsilvergold where I see you quite active. I always look forward to your comments and posts.

I have only one advice: do what you like to do. The path is much easier when you like what you do for working, when you like the people that are around you and when you like the kind of life that you chose. It is not easy to accomplish it, but you must always try.

This quote is like one of those tough men who are rough on the outside. Because they are so tough people barely look inside them. This quote is so true and on the mark that is practically guaranteed that people might skim over it after reading it. It is true like the facts that the day is day and the night is night and thus the assumption 'alright, lets move on'.

I have read this quote for the first time, so maybe that's why it seems so special to me. I am already aware of the idea behind the quote and yet after reading it my thoughts on the matter are bubbling with renewed vigor............

Also............. I wonder if for the brothers silver was their true goal and not the wealth it might have represented to people. So maybe even in the end they were successful in their aim.

Yes it is a straightforward statement but if you consider it deeply it holds the fundamental truth to success - doing what is necessary.

The Hunt Brothers are like patron saints around here.

I love this image in so many ways.

The one who does not risk does not win, I think we should not be afraid to invest in what we want to achieve, there will always be a profit

Nice. I agree. Doing what is in alignment with your purpose will yield valuable results - whether success or lessons for next attempt. With enough will, all is a matter of time.

Unfortunately, things went south for the Hunt Brothers shortly after that...
The rest is a story for another time.

I should flag you for leaving me hanging like that...J\k

That is a great quote. Have a great night. I just saw this passing though.

This is awesome...

When the wise want something, he ask for the price to pay to get it and when he know the price, he pays without hesitation.

not much different from the Bunker hunt, I want to collect steem and use as necessary, I am sure if this my adherence will not be in vain, no word surrender before getting it.
thanks @john-robert for your quote

Winning a gold medal is the ultimate achievement in sports. If two brothers had succeeded in cornering the silver market in January 1980, "winning the silver" might have meant winning it all instead.

Brothers Bunker and Herbert Hunt created one of the greatest bubbles in the history of financial markets, pushing silver prices from US$6 an ounce in early 1979 to just over US$50 an ounce - its highest price ever - in January 1980. Investors today can learn some important lessons from the saga.

Here's how the saga ended.

On January 21, 1980, the commodity exchanges, with support from the U.S. government, announced that no one could buy anymore silver. Investors could only sell silver - and only sales to exchange-approved buyers were allowed.

Nelson Bunker Hunt was Born on February 22, 1926 at El Dorado, Arkansas in U.S.

Dallas, Texas, U.S.

His Nationality was American

his Occupation was Oil & Mining.

He was died on 21 octobor 2014.
He was a great man. This is his photo.

I'm going seek out a wiki page or something to read the story for 10mins. Sounds actually like a cool plot to a Red Dead Redemption style computer game!

Great quote.

I would say that, the path gets curly and twisty and is full of thorns and obstacles most of the times. Also, there will surely be more than one paths to the same destination.

Moreover, you may sometimes find that the destination doesn't suit you anymore and you have no to change it. With it, the path then changes as well.

So truly thought from Nelson Bunker....

My needs are simple... I just like feeling safe when I'm sleeping... I like keeping my house at 68 Degrees in the Summer... I love visiting my Family in San Francisco... I'm working on an invention that I feel will have a Big Demand... First came the Idea, then the Drawings, and now I'm making a Prototype... I need to make sure there is no room for improvements... I'm glad I decided to make the Prototype, because it's so much easier to see what's missing in my Drawings... I'm getting very close to submitting everything to a Team of Professionals to go forward with my Patent Application... Plus, I like to go out and Mingle and Talk with other like minded people...

Very interesting questions to ponder over. Never heard of the Hunt brothers until today. I think I have to read more about them. Nice publication by the way.
