This was another find when traveling recently. I had never seen this design, nor heard of the Great American Mint and Refinery. But after researching more, it seems that I have seen plenty of their products. It looks like they make generic buffalo/Native American, walking liberty, Mercury, and Morgan rounds that I've seen all over in my trips to various shops. They just don't put their logo on them.
From what I can tell, they are quite a prolific mint, but seem to focus more on refining. Dealers can actually still buy this design (along with several others) from their website, so I don't think it's terribly old. I wasn't able to find how long this mint has been in operation, but judging from the dings in it, this bar's been through some stuff. I really like the design on the back of it, which is why I put it as the first picture.
Strange to be such a big operations, and yet unknown. I have never heard the name either, but I guess I have seen some of their products, just the ones without their name on it. Thanks for sharing buddy.
