We got a partial lease fill, and botty upvote discussion.steemCreated with Sketch.

in steemsilvergold •  7 years ago

We finally got part of the lease filled, we got 2500SP for 50STEEM, the rest went unfulfilled and returned. I have since reapplied for the 200 again. I am also still looking for potential users to fill it manually.

Voting

Botty Votes at 100 are now worth 0.43, so everyone should start seeing large upvotes. Weigh remains unchanged and seems well balanced.

Second Chance Post

This is one of @raybrockman's few undervalued posts and he raised and great point here. He was discussing trying to upvote @silvergoldbotty daily to continue to help support the community. It's an easy way to give back a little everyday to help the community grow. I am currently following 89 members and only getting voted by about 15-20 members consistently. It seams the same few people are constantly giving and supporting botty for everyones benefit and little of there own. Once again I don't want to have to force anyone to do this and the whole point is to support and help community members grow. A few members have botty on their steemvoter and that is a great tool to cast automatic votes for users you want to support on steemit, it also helps to maximize your own curation by casting your votes at the right time. I would strongly suggest everyone use it to follow each other and botty if you choose. You can also cast weighted votes before you get your slider to help spread your votes out better.

Please guys don't hesitate to reach out and discuss if you don't feel comfortable voting for @silvergoldbotty, maybe you feel posting daily from this account is too much, maybe you want to see those that commit to vote daily with steemvoter get a slightly higher daily vote from botty in return, maybe you think we need to remove people from the list that botty is voting on, maybe your totally fine that way everything is. This is really everyone's bot and I want everyone to participate in the discussion on how you want to see it used.

It's tough to get the balance right. You can't force (or shame) people into supporting a community effort, but then it's also not fair on the big contributers to be carrying a bunch of freeloaders.

Sometimes people need to see the tangible benefit before they will support, so I'd suggest keeping it open and generous for a bit longer at least. Once people start seeing 0.43 upvotes they might realise the value in supporting this idea.

But yeh, if this ends up being a handful of core contributers carrying a bunch of freeloaders then I will be one of the first who will start to wind back the support.

I do hope you are correct in this, I do see some more starting to come around and it is a new concept for people that are not also a part of other similar community projects.

We will definitely remain status quo for now, but I do think we may need to take a good hard look at the member list as well.

My vote is for whatever you and Ray want to do. You guys have done the most and been the most help to me so I back whatever you cats wanna do

Thanks for weighing in man, we appreciate the feedback.

I think people need to vote for the bot in order to receive from the bot. Let's not go all the way with weighted votes yet, but it is a reasonable expectation that only the people supporting get supported.

Isn't there a kids story about this? Who will help me cut the wheat and kneed the dough?

I think your right, why should everyone eat the bread if they are not even going to make an attempt.

Everyone is free to choose... but without contributing a bare minimum, it undermines those who enthusiastically provide support.
Thx botty!

How long do you have that 2500 steem power delegation for?

I believe it’s for 4 weeks. But I’m not positive about that.

That'd be about right. 50 steem/month would take about 5 years to save up 2500 steem. Renting it at that rate would be about right.
I have quite a bit, just mentally crunching the numbers to see if it's worth leasing out my 10K SP, at 200 steem/month.

Yeah it's 4 weeks and that is the going rate for community projects on minnowbooster, they calculate an 18.4% APR, and that includes the one week cool down when the delegation expires, but something we can discuss is seeing if people want to commit to it longer term and renew it month, this eliminating the cool down. We can certainly discuss further feel free to reach out to me.

Oh yeah, plus minnowbooster takes 10% for brockering the deal, thus their 18.4% also accounts for that amount. But of course you need to calculate in your loss curation when your crunching those numbers for yourself.

You can see how it's an excellent deal from my perspective at that kind of price though.
I'm effectively loaning at a high interest rate, leveraging my existing steem investment, increasing my exposure to any growth (and loss) and face zero chance of a default, since I can remove the delegation at any point.
And you've struggled to find someone to fill that order on those terms?
Might be time to move some bitcoin into steem and become a lender.

I'm glad you see it that way, I think our problem is that we are currently competing against the non-community leases, that offer a higher ROI. As a community support bot minnow booster gives us 200SP for 4STEEM, and non-community leases get 150SP for 4 STEEM, Thus investors are more likely to fill those leases. But I suspect many communities just broker there own long term leases privately, much like we are discussing now.
But I do feel you are correct that filling these leases can be quite lucrative as an investment and those ROI's are excellent with no risk whatsoever. I hope you continue to seriously consider our lease as I will be starting to look at finding a private deal off minnowbooster if our STEEM is once again returned in 2 days.

PS the other great thing about leasing to this project is that you will directly see the benefit from the increased voting power since you are also an active member of this community. I can see that you don't post often but I think the botty vote would directly offset the lost curation. Are you feeling any arm twisting or begging yet...lol. Sorry.

I think with more time running we'll be able to figure out some solid analytics. Right now I noticed it's a slow time on the platform with a lot of people not participating as much as before. Unsure as to why that is but it's evident.

It certainly seems that less people are active especially in the SSG tag. On a given day most of the posts seem to be some sort of contest with less content from actual users.

I wonder if it's due to the recent down-times. We will just have to watch and see I guess.

I just powered up a bit and was planning to some more.
Ill help support more often as i see im on that voting list ;)

edit: I added you to my steemvoter. Currently @100% upvotes! Might change as I upgrade my SP, but 1 post a day Is nothing to vote on!
Should keep the party small for those who consistantly vote for the bot... just a thought

Thanks for the support with your vote man, I am definitely going to take a good hard look at the community membership list.

That's excellent news :)

It's a start, head over and twist you buddy Matt's arm to fill the rest...lol.

It has been interesting seeing how difficult it is to lease some steem, i would expect there to be a queue of steem holders wanting to make some easy steem for leasing out for a few week, it must be being tightly held or in greater demand or in short supply

It would be lucrative for them to supply steem for these leases. I've been watching the lease market HERE closely and it seams the non-community leases get filled quite quickly, I speculate that our community rate is actually hindering us.
