I came across an interesting website today. It was sent to my by a good friend and fellow collector. I have been on A LOT of precious metals websites. All the major bullion dealers, forum websites, and informational. I have NEVER stumbled upon this one. .

I want to ask the #steemsilvergold community if anyone is familar with this website?

In my opinion, the website is well done. I believe it offers a valuable service for ALL collectors/buyers. It looks like they cover the different markets with in precious metals. The first thing I noticed was that there is a member log in. I would assume this is a paid membership service. I read over thier terms and conditions which made it very clear they do not want thier website linked in to any social media websites.

I planned on presenting photos from the website as well but thier terms and conditions also mention that is against there policy. I will however mention that they are covering the latest developments regarding the currently active Engelhard counterfeiter Kyle Anastasiou of Hamilton, Ontario Canada. I have personally been involved in this investigation and shared much of that information here on Steemit. Fakebullion.com references the exact details provided in this link below

It is impressive to see them use the information offered on http://allengelhard.com/#. I hope get more familar on this website. In all honesty, I think it is a fantastic service that helps keep this market in check. If anyone has any information or experience with using this website let me know. image

Counterfeiting is the bottom of barrel. The lowest level of living life. Scamming honest people out thier hard earned money is mind boggling for me. We need to stand strong as a community and not allow these kinds of people to negatively the market. image

That sucks people do that. I don't spend a lot of time thinking about it, but when I do, it makes me mad. I wonder what percentage of global supply is counterfeit. What are the odds that a coin/bar/round that you buy from the coin store is fake?

There is always a slight chance items are fake in a coin shop or store. Some of the fakes are even passing the tests of some of the nicer sigma precious metal verifier. Which are regularly used by coin shops who don't an x ray gun.

Are they fake in terms of being made of something other than silver, or fake in terms of being made after the year stamped on the coin?

Are they fakes like the Engelhard bars that are actually silver, but aren't Engelhard? Or are they just not silver?

And they still get past the detectors? Wow

They are fakes in everyway you just mentioned. Some much better then others obviously. I have heard China is putting a thin layer of. 999 gold on the gold coins. Filling them with lead. The common bullion testers only test the surface so they pass. Scary stuff. Need the right equipment. I will reach out to you with some info.

That would be great! I want to keep collecting, but I'm starting to get worried as I collect more and more coins that the odds of getting fakes and wasting my heard-earned money is increasing. I try to only buy from reputable dealers, but maybe they're missing things too.

I'm not going to stop buying, but I'd like to know a bit more of what I'm up against. And probably not going to jump on any ebay sales anytime soon.

Fakes are everywhere. That is why I only buy bullion from not established sellers on Internet. Even slabbed coins are produced in China, with almost perfect slabs. NGC and PCGS are working hard to stop it, but is an impossible mission, due to the fact that the Chinese Government only considers it a crime if they are forging Chinese coins.

Yes I agree entirly @ronaldoavelino. China has sure played a big part in developing the counterfeit market. Always worth educating yourself and buying the appropriate equipment.
