  • Today, July 18, marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, a South African lawyer, activist, politician and philanthropist who fought throughout his life against social inequality and institutionalized racism.

  • In 1944 Mandela joined the African National Congress and was committed to resistance against the apartheid policies of the ruling National Party for many years until he was arrested in August 1962.

  • Madiba, as he was called by those who appreciated him the most, remained imprisoned for more than 27 years, during which his reputation as a powerful symbol of resistance for the anti-apartheid movement grew steadily.

  • Released in 1990, he received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 and was invested as the first democratically elected president in South Africa in 1994.

this was a great man here, someone to remember in history and never forget his ideals and what he stood for. a true hero

In the leadership of Nelson Mandela, the welfare budget goes up and the government introduces equality of assistance to the community including disabled help, childcare assistance and pensions for the elderly as well as free medical expenses.
The head of government who cares for his people ...

Here's another Nelson Mandela quote (although he did not say it) lol.

"You can lock a man up and take away his freedom but you will never, NEVER extinguish the fire of justice and the flame of love within his heart"
