Hi Steemit community.
I have master's degree in sociology and my daily work is connected with study & control of reputation of different brands in Internet. For steemiters I have prepared some statistics about STEEMIT mentions at external sites.
Let’s start. For my mini-research I used one of the monitor systems (free account). Analyzed period: from 1st, January till 4th, August. Analyzed region: Russia and posts from other regions published in Russian. (You can find info about limitations at the end of the post.)
GENERAL
First mention about STEEM belong to July, 6. By now total mentions number amounts 529 posts.
General trend is that daily posts number grows up. But you can make note of surges (July, 13, 22, 27) and declines (July, 16, 24; August, 4).
Total source number in analyzing period is 13 (i.e. on this sites mentions were found). Top-3 is the following:
- Vk.com (Russian social network №1; amounts 350 mln+ users in total and 80k+ daily users; Facebook analog).
- LiveJournal
MENTIONS
It is noteworthy that users shared Steemit links 229 times! There are three main reasons: 1) to talk about Steemit in a whole; 2) to share first post experiments on the site with other people; 3) to call other people for voting.
You see the most used words in users’ mentions below:
Surely, “steemit” and “steem” are the most used words. But also people discuss the following topics: bitcoin, blockchain, cryptocurrency. A part of posts is connected with calling to “vote”. There are several posts in which “Steemit” is associated with “freedom”. Also users compare Steemit with Ethereum & Reddit.
AUTHORS
According to the data we could presume that men rather discuss information about Steemit (is valid for Russian region).
The system counted at least 85 authors. List of the most prolific authors you see below.
RESUME
I think real figures differ from pointed out above – they can be several times higher (for world and Russia as well). But as for me it is quite interesting research & information. I hope that positive trend in mentions quantity will be saved.
Thank you and see you again!
P.S. Take into consideration several limitations of the research:
- Each monitor system has its own cover quality (i.e. number of covered sources & visibility depth); it depends on general focus of the system (e.g. USA, Europe. Russia, etc.) and developer quality. The monitor system that I have used is focused on Russia region.
- There are some technical limitations on the sources’ side: some of them give data “well”, next part give data “bad” and the last give no data at all.
- As a result, no one monitor system fully covers Internet.
- Each monitor system analyzes only Internet auditory mention activity (i.e. NO offline activity, NO other online activity, e.g. number of views, click numbers, etc.).
- For getting more relevant data you need to use more strong monitor system or combine the results of several systems.
