This is My Flammenwerfer. It Werfs Flammen. (Actual Flamethrower Unboxing!!)

in steemstem •  7 years ago  (edited)

My flamethrower arrived! A sorely needed bright spot amidst the panic and gloom of my roomie possibly losing his finger to the lawnmower yesterday. I mean a flamethrower isn't gonna solve that really, but it lifts my spirits somewhat. After all, think of all the flammens that need werfing. They aren't just going to werf themselves, yanno.

Damn did this thing arrive with some documentation. There's a manual for the flamethrower, there's a booklet of instructions for charging the battery, there's a safety warning card. Almost like this is an insanely dangerous product I should never have bought. Oh well! In for a penny.

It uses a lithium polymer battery pack similar to what's found in some drones to power the fuel pump. Consequently it needs to be charged, and comes with a charger for that purpose. Nothing too fancy, but the fact that the batteries are lithium polymer do give me mild cause for concern.

Lithium polymer batteries, after all, infamously explode in a fireball if punctured. Having that right in the guts of a machine that shoots a pressurized stream of highly flammable liquid hydrocarbon seems like a bad idea to be for some reason. But hey, what do I know.

Below you can see the battery itself, tucked away in a neat locking compartment where the fuel pump and all other electronics are housed. That does comfort me somewhat. If you have to use a fragile battery that catches fire if damaged, you certainly want it to be well shielded.

Below you can see the LED display embedded in the side, which tells you the battery state of charge. At least I think that's what the readout indicates. It would make sense if this is a partially charged 12 volt battery pack. Perhaps it's a fuel gauge, but then it ought to read zero...?

Anyway the double sized fuel canister which allows for 60 seconds of flammenwerfing arrived many weeks ago and is sitting in a drawer waiting to be attached. There's also a $400 fuel backpack you can buy that (I believe?) triples that duration. Just in case you absolutely positively need to fuck up a whole lot of bad guys.

What will I use this for? Probably nothing. It's a wildly irresponsible thing to have purchased. At most I will take it out to a derelict industrial ruin somewhere just to catch some footage of what it looks like actually shooting flaming fuel. It'd be a shame not to do that at least once.

Other than that? Unless civilization collapses I can't imagine what all I can use this for without landing in prison. Mostly I wanted it just to have it. Given that it cost like $800 I'm now second-guessing that decision, but I love this stupid thing too much to sell it.

By the by if you're wondering about the legality of this thing, astonishingly there are no legal restrictions on flamethrower ownership except in three states, none of which I live in. God bless 'Murica.

Lol, I cannot believe that you actually bought a flamethrower! 🔥 I would love to see that thing in action! 😈

This is so cool! Got any videos of it in action?

Nope, I only just got it.

Cool! Please do post some when that happens. Would be really interested to see that.

Kids don't play with fire.
Only do it in library or a book store.

Damn dude be careful with that. You just need to post a video using it, guess people would love to see it in action!

Are you thinking of hiring it out? I've got some heavy duty gardening that needs to be done, and I reckon this would be perfect!

Okay, it's really scary to live with you. It would already be a blessing to get a few broken bones or burns. And stay alive lmao!

I wish I could get one of these! Have you tried it yet?

Step one: practice on the instruction manual.
Step two: take revenge on the lawnmower!

Wow your house must be full of technologies. I was just thinking about asking what are you gonna do with tjis but when you said about doing nothing i was like "what really? Then why did you buy this?", then again cause you like this thing very much. But isn't this tool really dangerous then why no legality on this, its surprising.

Actually for what this tool is created? Is not it more negative than positive impact. But yes never mind, I'm sure if this object is in your hand will be fine. But remember, do not get reached by Roomie.

"Actually for what this tool is created?"

Werfing flammen. It says in the title.

oh I'm sorry. I mean, if only to handle the grass, it could use a round up fluid.

OMG!!! it turns out there is such a tool is sold freely in the market. That's very dangerous. It could be a fire trigger. Especially the spout is fire not water. Please use it wisely @alexbeyman.

Getting the coals started for the BBQ will be a breeze now.

Let's see that sucker in action!

What about weeding the garden?

Wow that's wonderful. Can you please share a video of this flamethrower while throwing flames. But be careful and don't hurt yourself or anyone.

I absolutely love the fact that you unboxed a flamethrower.
🎒🌟🎒
Don't burn anything down. :)

You can at least make us a video of you werfin.
I mean if you don't it's really a waste of $800.

if i will get it here
they would call me a terrorist!
Man you are really having some freedom

I mean, it doesn't solve his problem but it does allow for some fiery, sweet revenge on that lawnmower in the future when he gets his prosthetic. Just saying.

By the way, fuck you for getting something so damn cool. I'm jealous as hell :( I demand a video of it in action asap.

haha wow, no registration for assault flamethrowers? This is an awesome country. Is CA one of those three states?

In CA you need to apply for a permit if it shoots flame further than 10 feet.

You can keep and use it to fight Aliens if they invade earth

Other than that? Unless civilization collapses I can't imagine what all I can use this for without landing in prison. Mostly I wanted it just to have it. Given that it cost like $800 I'm now second-guessing that decision, but I love this stupid thing too much to sell it.

@alexbeyman,
Did you buy it locally? If I try to purchase this via international, it might not release at Custom! Use it wisely!

Cheers~

So now if you catch a burglar in your house you can legally burn the house while he’s inside.. God bless Murica! 😄

A really strange launcher I have never seen before
Really very distinctive

wow , no registration for assault flamethrowers? This is an nice country.

You ginus your all post helpful ..thanks for share this post

nice post thanks for sharing....

Wow! this is yours. Great man @alexbeyman. Always you do uncommon things. But be careful. First practice with instruction manual. And then take your next step. And of course your country Murica is awesome. No legal restrictions needed for using flamethrower. You are lucky.

Poor spiders!

This is a technological out burst..
Terrorist are in trouble.lol
Nice one @alexbeyman

Lol...there is manual for everything this days...

Following just for the use video that is forthcoming. Sounds like you got a real flame thrower and not the big blowtorch Elon Musk is selling.
