The fact that a man is shaped by his environment is a well known fact, since the environment determines what is avaialable for him to eat, what he wears in order to survive the climate, the time to work and time to stay indoors.It is important that this "detecting factor" as i like to call it ,is looked into .
Over the years environmental experst have been arguing persistently that without the habitat that man cannot exist.
Nowadays, issues of global warming is so rapant worldwide and the global communities are debating on ways to end tge treats associated with global warming.And it has been noted that the major cause of this global warming is the depleation of the ozone layer by high emission of carbon into the atmosphere, which is one of the major disadvantage of industrialization.
In the northern Nigeria there are now cases of desertification in the north-eastern region comprising of Borno and Yobe state,the southern part of lake Chad, the section of it that lies inside Nigeria lies dried up.
While in the south-eastern part of the country, there have been cases of landslide, erosion which in turn washes away the soil nutrient and farmers now find it difficult to harvest healthy crops.
In the coastal region due to water levels rising , families have been driven away by flooding .From the statistics released by National Emergency Manangement Agency(NEMA) not less than 5000 persons , 60 houses were affected.
Permit me to say , even the most current case of fulani herdsmen crisis can be traced back to climate change.Because if the land was greener in the north, then the fulani herdsmen will have little or no need of adventuring into the south-eastern part.
CAUSES OF THIS CLIMATE CHANGE IN NIGERIA
- Ignorance of the masses.
2.Ineffective envrionmental government policies.
3.Lack of technological advancement.
4.Rapid industrialization and little or no eco-friendly activities ,like planting of trees.
5.Defforestation
OBVIOUS SOLUTION
1.Mainstreaming climate change into national, regional and state development plans.
2.Raising awareness of the dangers of climate change.
3.Effevtive management of flood, waste and coastal eroison.
4.Adopting eco-friendly activities .
