Low cost nutritional alternatives

Hello my steemit people, in this opportunity I return with the second part of a publication article on the ***moringa*** and its nutritional properties, in addition to others that it has as a benefit for all sectors in the field of food, not only as a nutritional supplement but also in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry.

Moringa

moringa II

History:

The ancient Sanskrit writers knew it as a medicinal plant. Ancient Hindu writings dating back to before 150 BC refer to the Moringa plant and its uses. The first Romans, Greeks and Egyptians appreciated Moringa for its therapeutic properties, and also used it to protect the skin, for its high concentrations of Vitamin A, B, C and D, make perfumes and purify the water to drink. The same Bible in the book of Exodus 15: 22-27 refers to the plant as a purifier of the water of the Red Sea, in that region of Asia Minor.

In the 19th century, Moringa plantations in the Caribbean exported the oil from the plant to Europe for perfumes and lubricants for machinery. Moringa has been taking giant steps in several societies for thousands of years. His remedies have been passed down from generation to generation in home medicine. Moringa is certainly one of the most recent discoveries of modern science and Biology and Chemistry, do not tire of discovering new applications.

In Latin America, the Moringa or Marango was introduced and naturalized in 1920 as an ornamental tree and was used as a living fence and windbreaker curtains in places where the blizzards were very frequent. Moringa Oleifera has gained great importance, since it is one of the vegetable species with the highest oil content (35%) and it produces a high quality biodiesel. This crop has an approximate yield of 2500 kilograms / hectare, a yield of 1.478 liters of oil / hectare and a conversion factor to biodiesel of 0.96, which allows an approximate production of 1.419 liters of biodiesel / hectare.

Both Moringa and carrots are diamonds in the research department because Moringa has four times the Beta Carotene of carrots which is very beneficial for cancer prevention. The Bethesda International Eye Foundation, based in Md. United States, is using Moringa in Malawi because it is loaded with Vitamin A, as its deficiency is the cause of blindness in 70% of cases.

Scientists with studies in Molecular Bilogy, Biophysics and Biochemistry, made an exhaustive Molecular Study Joint Program of this Plant in December of 2,008, in Japan, the United States and France, and were surprised of what they discovered in it, and today, they consider that Moringa has the highest protein ratio of all the plants that have been studied so far on Earth! (To the tree of miracles, by Monica G. Marcu, Pharm.D., Ph.D).

A nutritive analysis indicates that Moringa leaves contain a wealth of essential nutrients that prevent disease. They also contain all the essential amino acid, something that is rare in a single plant.

This plant native to the ***India***, where 80,000 hectares are currently cultivated, the small tree of food crops has multiple uses. Moringa leaves can be eaten in salad. Their food, seeds and leaves are high in essential amino acids and their immature pods, which resemble asparagus, are edible.

As raw material for ***biodiesel*** The yields of the Moringa is 3 tons of seed per hectare (1.2 tons per acre), which produce 30% to 40% of oil containing 65% oleic acid. In one hectare of land, between 700 and 1,100 Moringa oleifera trees can be planted, which initiate fruit production for seed 12 months after the beginning of the crop, that is, early crops. And once the fruit ripens and presents a dark brown color, the production of seed destined to new sowings begins, or to its toasted consumption as the peanut, or ground for purification of waters and honey, or for the extraction of edible oil or destined to the production of biodiesel.

Each tree annually produces an average of 4 kilos of seed, for a total of 2,800 kilos hectare / year, with 40% oil. As a by-product of the extraction of the oil, we obtain Moringa Cake with 60% protein, raw material for the manufacture of concentrates for animals, or direct food for them, with a very nutritious diet of high quality, free of toxins and side effects.

MANUFACTURING:

In one hectare of sugarcane, 630 liters / year of alcohol can be produced from the molasses obtained in sugar production, while the same area sown with Moringa oleifera can produce 8,400 liters / year, which is in itself , an abysmal difference between both plants.

BIOMASS

According to the advanced crops in several parts of the country and abroad, Moringa oleifera has very special productivity properties, achieving in crops with irrigation up to 80 tons / hectare / cut, by 8 cuts per year. In Colombia it has been possible to check up to 30
tons / hectare / cut, which in any case makes this oilseed very productive as a raw material for the production of ethanol from the forage harvested every 45 days.

Water purification

In developed countries it is used in the Water Purification, the Aluminum Sulphate Process, but between aluminum and the terrible disease known as Alzheimer's disease there is a close relationship that has not yet been studied, but it is true. Nature has the alternative answer: a tree with a slender figure and graceful frond called Moringa referred to in the Bible in the book of Exodus 15: 22-27, can solve the same problem in less time, with lower costs and without risks for health .

Its seeds are a magic wand to clean the water. The United Nations as well as the organization of http://www.treesforlife.org/our-work/our-initiatives/moringa/moringa-tree are fighting global malnutrition and hunger, through the use of powdered leaves of moringa oleifera, particularly in India and Africa. It is important to highlight the quality and quality of oleic acid corresponding to 73%, equivalent to olive oil. Therefore, due to the quality of the oil, it would have an apt vocation for human consumption.

In summary this is another delivery of the article on low cost alternative food, more than pleasantly hoping it will be useful for this community and have your support to continue publishing my articles @issavets
