Hello fellow steemian, let me share this with you because I have been in wonder about what will happen to the truck drivers all across the countries, especially in the U.S where multiple companies have started testing self-driven trucks as they postulate that driverless trucks will be safer and cost efficient.
One of the safety back-up drivers confessed during the test that the system often do drive better he does.
“This system often drives better than I do,” says Greg Murphy.
He said this at OTTO, an automobile technology company in San francisco which outfits trucks with equipments needed to self drive.. Although OTTO and other companies alike are encountering some technical challenges as to perfecting this development, they are also working tireleslly to come up with the perfect driverless truck which will beat all inefficiencies and operate at an almost 100% efficiency rate..
Although the technological barriers facing autonomous trucks is on a higher level compared to the ones for driverless cars, OTTO and other companies will need to prove that the sensors and codes developed can match the awareness and operational adequacy of a proffesional truck driver's skill who has acquired years of experience in piloting a distabilized truck which has a momentum of 25 Honda Accord cars when faced with confusing situations, poor surface conditions, unpredictable road drivers and other road hazards..
Driverless trucks will affect a great number of blue-collar workers, there are millions, if not billions of truck drivers all over the globe..
This technology is not really going to replace truck drivers anytime soon, but it will definitely alter the nature of their Job and it might not be a welcome development to the truckers community...
Ladies and Gentel men, My fellow steemians, Technology is taking over.

It is good news for truck drivers.

Really?? But I think I disagree on that, because it will cut down on their labour force and income also

Yes I might be bad in a short term view as people might loose their jobs, but in a longer view I am quite excited for driverless cars and trucks. I think a person could spend their time so much better while travelling rather then driving.
