Act III, Scene iii
Continued...
ANNABELLA shakes her head.
Soranzo: If it’s not too much trouble...
Annabella: No, no, it’s fine.
Soranzo: Wow, spectacular, stupendous! I will go to work expediently to procure the holy condiments for the evening’s matrimonial ceremony!
Florio: Already done!
Soranzo: (to Florio) Really?!
Annabella: Father?
Florio: Already furnished. It was a long-shot, but we did it. Me and the maidservants.
Annabella: Unbelievable.
SORANZO looks to ANNABELLA with joyous anticipation.
ANNABELLA faintly smiles at him.
Soranzo: I’ll go check.
Annabella: Sure.
SORANZO is overcome with joy. He smiles at ANNABELLA.
Soranzo: You won’t regret this, fair maiden.
Annabella: I’m sure not.
SORANZO rushes off.
ANNABELLA sighs as THE FRIAR and FLORIO look on, pleased with her decision and smiling as if nothing is wrong.
ANNABELLA however can’t help but appear forlorn as the lights dim to end the scene.
LIGHTS DIM.
