Coffee and Philosophy: Where did you get yours?

Today's cup is brought to us by this weird little green mermaid coffee stirrer that is poking out up the top of my coffee.
Also the fact that Cafe Au Lait is apparently a Louisiana thing and the evil empire calls it a "misto"?

Hello everyone I was thinking about the concept of philosophy in general today and how it is obviously perspective based and everyone kind of hows their own philosophy. I was curious to hear what everyone's favorite flavor of philosophy or the type they most ascribe to their own beliefs. I actually never really studied philosophy and much of mine own beliefs came about due to my penchant for questioning everything. I would say Orwell was probably my philosophy teacher if anyone was, which is kind of ironic in and of itself, but today I'm interested in hearing where other's got the inspiration for their philosophical views.

My favorite philosophy... Let me see... I steal shamelessly, a lot of my outlook was shaped by Robert Anton Wilson, and my current personal philosophy is shaped by animism, existentialism and a dash of gnosticism (adds flavour)

Interesting combination, thanks for sharing and "adding flavour." :)

My philosophy also came from "my penchant for questioning everything". Never being satisfied with the obvious has revealed a number of deeper secrets. To which I jokingly suggest the best kept secrets hide in the obvious where they are easily overlooked.

This is so very true. I often feel like I'm finally comprehending some elaborate puzzle, but the truth is I was just blind to the obvious and had to learn how to see it again. Thanks for sharing!

One important discovery I've found is in inspiration. Which describes revealing what you already knew is true. The answer comes from finding perspective. As in the framing of a question which answers itself before we can form the words. It was the perspective that revealed the answer, not our reason and conclusion.

The mind is naive and prone to error. We seek perspective. grin

politics aka state philosophy :3

Ya, Orwell definitely had a flair for painting the philosophy of the state.

well what I dont like about the 1984, the only Orwell I know, is all the hysteria that comes with it. We are living in this dystopia , but its not the end of the world, we will have to learn to live with it.

On the contrary I find the placating masses to be a pretty sad sign of the times. Is liberty dead? Are we really willing to give up freedom for complacency and hopes of not randomly being the victim of some state funded "terror" attack false flag?

well its an impossible fight to get rid of it. You would have to literally wipe the technological discovery of modern communication. If we have the technology for something, it will be done.

We can talk about how to control this giant surveillance apparatus and use it for good. But to fight it is pointless in my opinion.

I agree, its a bad trade. Where has peoples' fight gone?
Freedom is never free.

welp, to let you see there are positives in my idea. People could use the surveillance devices to have more control over their states.

My inspiration comes from a deep feeling to know and not from any one particular person or entity.
