(Throwback) On 15th June 2019, I was invited to organize a miniatures painting working in conjunction with Mini Hobbycon at 5 star Hotel Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa.
Instead of going for usual basic level painting workshop, I went for 'Intermediate' level in which focus on techniques. For this workshop, I charged them RM160 (inclusive high quality brushes, paints, figures, and special brush bag for early bird) instead of usual RM50-60.
Because of my table lamps shortage, I could only catered for 12 pax.... But before I knew it, its fully booked!! 😁😁 I was surprised with such enthusiast and anticipation!
On the day of workshop, I used video camera to do a zoom-in close up live showcast painting tutorial on 32 inches tv. This was the first time ever done in Kota Kinabalu itself. And for the first time in about 20 years, people were able to witness my painting technique!!
5 among the 12 people had no experience at all in miniatures painting. But they joined instead just because they wanted all the tools and paints
😂😂. The live tv showcase really helpful all the participants. They were able to see how I applied every techniques. And I taught them to improvise with the resources in hand, and bring out the greatest results!
My teaching is always about foundation, troubleshooting, and improvisation. I spoke to each student with their level of understanding and make it simple. Never say wrong/incorrect. And I bring the greatness out of each of them.
With my method of teaching, I was very surprised that the 5 inexperience participants were able to grab the techniques and produced the same result as those experience participant!! Thats the most rewarding thing as a teacher 😊😊.
By the end of the day, everybody were with the new techniques they've learnt. And again to my surprise, they request for more higher level workshop. That will be in another time, of cause...... 😎😎
